Description

We here at PiXAPRO are pleased to be able to offer a range of different Godox LED lighting to our customers, but there are a few different types of lighting available to choose between. The most common options are the VL Series, SL Series and UL Series of LED Lighting. Here is a breakdown comparing each light currently available in each series. Godox VL150 is lighter than the Aputure LS C120D II. VL150 weighs 1.79kg (3.95 lb) whereas Aputure LS C120D II weighs 2.2kg (4.85 lb). Both models also feature a cooling fan with very less or no noise. This is very helpful while recording videos as a silent fan will not deteriorate the audio quality. Specifications | Aputure LS C120D II vs Godox VL150 Feature

For the Godox VL Series, there are currently three different lighting units to choose between. Firstly, we have the Godox VL150 LED Light, followed by the Godox VL200 LED Light and finally the Godox VL300 LED Light. The VLII series features an ultra-quiet cooling fan, rated at less than 30 dB. This makes them suitable for use in sound-sensitive filming situations such as filming interviews, Can be Powered Anywhere Both Godox VL150 and SL150W II supports a yoke with a handle that allows full 360-degree rotation of the light. In addition, both models offer an option to turn off the fan if you need total silence while shooting, but with reduced brightness. Note that the fan noise is already minimal in both models. Specifications | Godox VL150 vs SL150W IIYes, though Godox really need to produce fresnels (and a projection attachment) which are optimised for their lights. This is the big gap between them and Aputure and NanLite. The 150 W powered Godox VL150 delivers 6400 lux at 1 m with a bare bulb. This luminance value increases to 61000 lux at 1 m with the reflector. In comparison to VL150, the 180W Aputure LS C120D II offers a brighter output of 7000 lux at one meter with a bare bulb. When coupled with a 2X Fresnel the lux value increase to an incredible 67000 at 1m. Note that Aputure LS C120D II can only produce only 24000 lux compared to the 61000 lux at 1m with the in-box reflector. This difference in light output is obvious here due to the wattage difference. Aputure LS C120D II no doubt is capable of offering a brighter output than VL150, it loses against the Godox model when it comes to light output per watt. Similar to the VL Series, the SL series currently has three different lighting units to choose between. These are the Godox SL 150 II LED Light, Godox SL150 II Bi LED Light and Godox SL200 II LED Light. Aputure LS C120D II boasts a persistent 5500K color temperature whereas the Godox VL150 offers a range of 5600K ± 200K temperature. In addition, the cooler Aputure LS C120D II also features a higher TLCI (≥97) than the VL150 (≈95). However, both models offer a CRI rating of 96. Amateur photographer shooting Sony A7III, building home studio with single lighting setup for upcoming newborn shoot with siblings.

However they have no good solutions for the ML lights. They have a nice set of Godox mount softboxes though they could do with a Light Dome equivalent and possibly a Lantern. They need a Godox mount Fresnel if they want the light to compete properly with the Forza 60. Arguably they should have something to compete with the Forza 60 projection attachment but the S30/S60 has that function very well covered. Again, as with the previously mentioned lighting series, the name indicates the power output of each lighting unit. The UL-60 has a maximum power output of 60W and the UL-150 has a much larger power output of 150W. This is further shown in the difference in brightness between each of the units as when measured at 1m, the UL-150 is much brighter at 58,000 LUX compared to the 31,000 LUX offered by the UL-60 light. The Godox UL-60 does offer a selection of features not available with the UL-150 unit, such as a selection of different lighting effects to choose between to add mood and drama to your cinematography. It also features Bluetooth connectivity to allow it to be controlled by the Godox smartphone app and supports DMX512 protocol to control a single or multiple units via a DMX control console. Both models deliver somewhat similar light output. Godox VL150 can deliver 61000 lux at 1m with just the standard reflector whereas the SL150W II models can deliver 58000 lux at 1m with the standard reflector. Practically, there is only a slight difference between the lux value at 5600K and it can be further increased using a Fresnel. Both models can dim their light as low as 0% from full brightness giving you full control over what you are buying. The Godox VLII Series maintain its super-high CRI (Colour-Rendering Index) rating of ≥96 and a TLCI (Television Lighting Consistency Index) of ≥96 for accurate colour reproduction. This ensures that colours are reproduced faithfully in your photographs and in your footage. The VL150II is suitable for Professional Broadcast use as well as for Filmmaking and Commercial Cinematography. Built-in Lighting FX Godox VL150 will suit you best if you are looking to shoot outdoor and carry around equipment frequently and it is much lighter than SL150W II. The later one is specifically for studios and does not come with support for an external battery, that’s the reason it’s priced lower than SL150W II.

All three lighting units can be powered either using the included mains power cable or using a V-Mount battery (Sold Separately) with the built-in V-Mount battery plates for use on both studio and location shoots. The entire VL series lighting units come with Bowens S-Type mount as standard to allow these to be used with a selection of different light modifiers to offer ample light control.
