Description

The product can be used on wood either indoors or outdoors, and is rain repellent so ideal for use on garden furniture. Stain would be better as it does not penetrate as far and varnish pretty mush just sits on the surface. If I was doing say door trim, I would apply with a foam brush on the first side of each piece, rotate them,. It’s suitable to apply on all types of wood and can be used on wooden furniture, tables and worktops.

Both stages, drying and curing, are greatly sped up by high temperatures and slowed by low temperatures. To achieve a rainbow of colours, one of our more popular products of choice is the Blanchon Hard Waxoil - Colours. I sanded those xmas trees back to bare wood and used boiled linseed oil instead of danish oil, it's still darkened it but not as much as the danish oil. Alternatively, with oak I've just kept wiping it down every few hours and first thing in the morning (for the first 24 hours).

Any wax finishes should be removed with wax and polish remover and any varnish finishes with fine wood stripper. It is almost like the break-or-make moment that will allow you to fully enjoy your natural, solid timber surfaces.

In the examples below we have applied it to Beech, Oak and Walnut so you can see how the Danish Oil finish looks on light, medium and dark coloured woods. Apply with a brush or lint-free cotton cloth and allow to penetrate for 5 to 10 minutes before wiping off the excess with a clean lint-free cloth. Another thing I do when sanding projects is after the 220 I give the wood a spray with water to swell the grain. It is easy to apply, has an attractive ‘natural’ low sheen finish and excellent long-term protective properties.Apply the Danish Oil with a brush or lint-free cotton cloth and allow to penetrate for 5-10 minutes before wiping off the excess with a clean lint-free cloth. Personally I prefer to strip off all hardware and lay flat but doing two coats each side had turned into a very long job. The doors have three coats of Danish Oil on and do look great, there was no damage to the doors, or indeed the facings (that are oak on MDF). When applying Danish oil to oak wood, the type of Danish oil, the thickness of the coat, the temperature and humidity, and the type of oak wood can all affect how long it takes for the oil to cure.

Our Danish Oil has been formulated to seal and finish any wooden surface as well as reoiling wood for maintenance. Any finish is only ever going to be as good as the surface beneath, so a bit of prep work is almost always going to be necessary to get the best results.
