Many, many thanks to Tor and Netgalley for feeding my 'Bot addiction providing an advanced reader copy that I could review in a completely unbiased manner. Not in This for Your Revolution: By the time it goes to Preservation it professes disinterest in their aims and it quite likes being paid for its labor, but it's clear that that's not all there is to it. Disney Death: Is deleted by the Targets, only to be reuploaded from a copy it left for Murderbot to find. The case against the too-big-to-fail GrayCris Corporation is floundering, and more importantly, authorities are beginning to ask more questions about where Dr. Mensah's SecUnit is. And Murderbot would rather those questions went away. For good. Drone Deployer: Has taken to storing drones on its person and using them as extra eyes or combat arms.

No. No, that’s all right. I know you don’t care for it.” She wipes her face. There are tears in her eyes, because she’s an idiot. The Murderbot Diaries (books one through four) and Network Effect ended up being Seiun Award finalists. The omnibus was also nominated for the best ‘foreign’ novel in German. It has a dark past -- one in which a number of humans were killed. A past that caused it to christen itself "Murderbot." But it has only vague memories of the massacre that spawned that title, and it wants to know more. Become a Real Boy: Defied. Dr. Mensah tells Murderbot that most humans would assume that since it looks human it would want to be human. Murderbot says this is the dumbest thing it’s ever heard.it's just outer space that gives me trouble. well, and lovecraft, because he doesn't even try to describe things, he just throws up his hands and bleats "ineffable" and we're supposed to be satisfied with that. Murderbot wasn't programmed to care. So, its decision to help the only human who ever showed it respect must be a system glitch, right? Having traveled the width of the galaxy to unearth details of its own murderous transgressions, as well as those of the GrayCris Corporation, Murderbot is heading home to help Dr. Mensah--its former owner (protector? friend?)--submit evidence that could prevent GrayCris from destroying more colonists in its never-ending quest for profit. There really isn't much here and if one didn't read this one they would miss nothing. This is one of my favorite ongoing series and my favorite aspect of this series is the point of view of Murderbot. This story differentiates itself from that point of view as Murderbot is mostly off screen for the story. With this change one can tell right away it just isn't as enjoyable as all the other entries in this series. As for the story it makes sense that Dr. Mensah would suffer from this. The only problem is that it is referenced in this story without any real depth and since this story takes place in between already written books we really never see it again.

It feels unfinished. Just a small plot bunny with some editing mistakes. But it was nice. I liked it. Told from Mensah‘s POV, seeing Murderbot from the outside, but really struggling with her internal landscape after the events of the last novella. Unusual! For fans... There is a lot of action, a lot of cussing (I'm looking at you, MB), and loads of funny internal MB dialogue which is my favorite part about these stories. Although, MB's external dialogue is funny, too. MB is snarky internally and externally and I'm glad I get to hear it all.Knowing what would happen, she wouldn’t choose a different planet, a different bond company. Because then SecUnit would still be someone’s property, would be waiting for the contract where the negligence or greed or indifference of its clients got it killed.” All Systems Red is the first entry in Martha Wells' New York Times and USA Today bestselling, and Hugo and Nebula award-winning science fiction series, The Murderbot Diaries. I think you might know,” she had said. “You just don’t want to talk about it.”She is definitely not 100%, and she knows it. In fact, her knowing it is something like 80% of the problem -- Murderbot is suffering from that oh-so-familiar-to-humans problem, a failure of self-confidence. She needs help, and her relationships, always an uncomfortable subject for Murderbot, with "her" humans and with ART are essential.

Villain Ball: Repeatedly gets an opportunity to cut her losses and simply get Maro, Rami, and Tapan get their files and finally out of her hair. Murderbot is calm, decisive and authoritative during a crisis, and incredibly socially awkward in any other situation. This Is Unforgivable!: The colonists are reluctant to give up Murderbot's location, until they're told about the implants the Targets are using to assimilate others. The uninfected colonists are furious at the idea that people are being forced to join this 'hive mind' and instantly reveal where Murderbot is likely to be found.Spry, Jeff (June 22, 2021). "Exclusive Q&A: Sci-fi author Martha Wells talks about her latest Murderbot novella, Fugitive Telemetry". Space.com . Retrieved July 9, 2022. NEW MURDERBOT!!! As soon as I heard it existed, I headed over to NetGalley to request a copy and here we are! At this point I'm really just reading these books for the wee moments of banter (and ART) and silliness amongst all the rest. And we had some good amounts of that in this one. Plus a weird little side issue with Murderbot's memory which is concerning. Muderbot dealing with trauma and its effects is no different. You know when you're reading something and it captures a feeling or experience so well that you feel like you've been punched in the gut? You have the wind taken out of you and just have to sit there for a moment, mind empty, unable to process what's happened? Well regardless, the impacts of trauma are apparent throughout the series and through various characters but now Muderbot is dealing with them, instead of ignoring them, whether it wants to or not.
