Nurgle’s Gift (Contagion): While an enemy unit is within Contagion Range of this unit (see below), subtract 1 from the Toughness characteristic of models in that enemy unit.

If needed apply additional weathering steps. Perhaps an oil wash, highlight raised areas with silver to reveal recently damaged metal, apply pigment for dust or concentrated rust effects, etc. It bears 2 plaguespitters on the sponsons, which you can replace with the 2 included entropy cannon, and the heavy slugger at the front-centre can be replaced with a rothail volley gun – each option is equally potent, but the biggest worry to the enemy is undoubtedly the plagueburst mortar, whose targeting mechanisms and enormous barrel dominate the rear of the vehicle. Dry brush a lighter green color onto the raised edges and areas of wear and tear. For example, use Elysian Green or Skarsnik Green to create a worn and weathered look. Blood Reaper • Blood Slaughterer • Blood Throne of Khorne • Brass Scorpion • Cauldron of Blood • Death Dealer • Doom Blaster • Kytan • Lord of Battles • Lord of Skulls • Skull Cannon of Khorne • Tower of Skulls

As the Death Guard Unit of the Week Series (DGUotWS) has been a bit sporadic, Wolf Lord Loki has offered to post UotW topics regularly to start building a good resource for all our plague ridden chums. Bloodletters • Plaguebearers • Horror of Tzeentch • Daemonette • Nurglings • Beast of Nurgle • Plague Drone • Flamer • Screamer Smear that shit everywhere with a brush you don’t care much about. It is good to work in sections so you don’t get paint all over your hands as much. On the subject of Deathshroud, we can’t skip over Typhus any longer. He’s a big, nasty Terminator character but most importantly his ability to throw out D6 mortal wounds at 18″ is huge. When combined with the Chaos Lord’s aura, Typhus can be part of a powerful 1/2 punch that finishes off enemy targets weakened by other units.

Chaos Cultists • Poxwalkers • Pestigor • Plague Zombies • Plague Ogryn • Thrall Wizard • Tzaangor • Tzaangor Enlightened • Tzaangor Shaman • Dark Disciple At its core, this method utilizes an airbrush and the water-solubility of a cheap hairspray to achieve the rust effect. We add to that layers of grime with an oil wash and some Citadel technical paint. Let’s start by understanding what we’re trying to achieve on the main panels of the tank: a realistic rust effect. It’s worth taking a look at some inspirational pictures to be reminded of what real rust looks like. For me, it’s a lot more orange than I would have guessed and we can see that it varies considerably in the darkest and lightest tones, so it’s beneficial to be reminded. Mortarion's decision to make these vehicles Daemon Engines says much for his contempt for all living things. Live crew -- even Death Guard Heretic Astartes -- might be injured or slain, or suffer an all-too- Human error of judgement in battle. By comparison, though great effort is required to bind a Daemon within each Plagueburst Crawler, once installed the possessor entities tirelessly obey their masters and, by extension, the will of Mortarion. You had some impressive games, winning a games against double-wraithknight Eldar and another vs Wraithknight + Double Wraithguard. How did you pull that off?

Top Command Assets

PBC's. Man these are horrible. Am I right in thinking that the Disgusting Force strat (flat 3Dam, splash mortals onto units within 3") only affects a single PBC per turn? Last game I played an opponent with two, who in T1 played the strat then had it apply to both...needless to say it wasn't pleasant, my squish sorceres that need to stay within 3" of units were getting splash mortaled to death. I did a fairly detailed tutorial on the specific method discussed here, so I wanted to go a bit more in-depth into what makes weathering look good. Pretty much every effective weathering involves layering different textures on top of each other in ways that add to the techniques underneath, as well as covering up mistakes, assuming that you, like me, want to do things with as little effort and precision as humanly possible. Magnus’ supreme command of the warp is represented by his Master Psyker rule, which gives you great control over your psychic power Command Assets.

extra wounds and higher toughness. T8 versus small arms fire makes a large difference as well as against overcharged plasma and melta. On top of that, Kevin’s list goes hard on Predator Annihilators – running three of them. The Annihilator is a bit of an underrated option in Chaos lists, offering three lascannon shots (one of which is twin-linked) that can re-roll their damage rolls on a relatively fast, tough body with OC 4. This gives the list lots of play against knights and other vehicle-heavy lists, while still retaining lots of anti-infantry play via the mortars and Mortarion.

Fucking It Up Gently – SRM

This kit comes with two sprues and the level of detail is excellent. The main hull has infestations and tubers growing out of it. The treads have what looks to be teeth embedded in them. There are boils, pitting, scouring everywhere. The PBC is a Deamon Engine. However, unlike all other Chaos legion Deamon Engines, including our own, it does not have a melee weapon or improved WS. In this regard, the PBC a Ranged only threat, whereas all other Deamon Engines are multi-threat. Varnish with gloss coatThis is a very important detail and will help with our next step. Make sure you give the varnish about 24 hours to fully cure. I’ve been told to do this by the research I’ve done (i.e. YouTube videos I’ve watched) and while I don’t know the magic number of hours needed to cure, I do know that I’ve never had an issue waiting 24 hours. I used Testors for this, again.

The Plagueburst Crawler comes with its signature weapon, the plagueburst mortar. This mortar is a heavy D6 plague weapon that can fire out of line of sight at S8 AP-2 D D3. You then get a choice of front mounted machine gun in the form of the Rothail volley gun or the Heavy slugger. Overall these two weapons do pretty much the same thing and this is not a major choice. The major choice that has to be made when it comes to the Plagueburst Crawler is its sponsons. Typhus brings incredible value as a stand-alone model already thanks to his ability to just toss out mortal wounds but he also adds a ton of value to the units he leads by making them harder to hit in melee (-1 to the hit roll). This combines extremely well with Skullsquirm Blight to create units that are very difficult to kill – either Deathshroud thanks to being T6 and -1 to wound or Poxwalkers thanks to having a 5+ feel no pain and the ability to regenerate dead models with each kill. Plague Marines I love everything about the PBC. Fairly pointed. Has anti tank options and anti infantry. A blast mortar that doesn't need line of sight. Has 5++ and -1 damage at T8 (would rather have 5+++ but that is a whole other discussion). Plague weapon on everything but their little gun. And just visually the model looks amazing, one of my favorite. Looks more like a tank than a Daemon engine. I'm in the party that still loves treads on tanks. To recap, the PBC is a hybrid Deamon Engine / Tank. It gains the 5++ save and disgustingly resilient, but doesn’t gain any melee capability. Despite being a tank, It doesn’t benefit from any of the common stratagems to ignore degrading BS or add a -1 to hit smokescreen buff that (to the best of my knowledge) is available to every other 9 th edition army. Start by applying a basecoat of dark green paint to the Plagueburst Crawler’s armor using a medium-sized brush. For example, you can use Death Guard Green to cover the majority of the model. Basecoat and highlightsOnce the hairspray is dry, you’re free to start applying your base coats and highlights. Since this is a 30k-scheme Death Guard Plagueburst Crawler, I’ll be using Menoth White and Menoth White Highlight, which are amazing go-to colors for any sort of cream, bone, or warm white in your life. The reason this first unit review covers them both is because in my opinion they fill very comparable roles within the army and can be interchanged quite easily. The other reason is that in my opinion either option equipped with plaguespitters is an absolute all star in any Death Guard army to a point where i build many lists around them. So let’s take a look at them! Foetid Bloat Drone Paint any additional details, such as the Nurgle symbol or other icons, using a small brush and contrasting colors like Balthasar Gold or Screamer Pink. Take your time and be patient, applying thin layers to achieve clean lines and precise details.
