About this deal

Whether you’re new to parenting or not, taking care of a baby can bring all sorts of worries and it’s normal to feel overwhelmed at times, particularly in those early months. But when it comes to bottle feeding your bundle of joy, our comprehensive range of bottle sterilisersmeans you can at least have total peace of mind that their bottles are always clean, germ-free and completely safe. We have plenty of quality designs, which work by using hot steam to sterilise bottles so there’s no need for chemicals - and some of our options can even be used in the microwave. Versatility is something all parents come to appreciate, so consider our multi-purpose sterilisers which can also be used for things like breast pumpsand baby cutlery. Our tester did note that the instructions advise descaling the steriliser once every 14 days, which she felt was more often than strictly required – though the hardness of your water and the limescale build-up on the heating plate during use will be the best guide there.

If you don’t remove the lid after the cycle has finished, the contents will remain sterile for 24 hours, which is useful if you don’t need to feed again immediately. The teat tongs are included with the steriliser so that you can safely remove freshly sterilised items without touching them with your fingers and potentially contaminating them. You can remove the teats with the teat tongs and then use the screw ring to re-assemble with the bottle. Our tester, Maisie, noted that this electric steam steriliser would be safe to have in a kitchen with young children around as they’d be unlikely to burn themselves even if they touched the unit accidentally. After the cycle, Tommee Tippee recommend waiting five minutes before opening the steriliser. There are handles at the top of the lid for you to take it off the trays safely after the cycle.

Once filled, contents are well-positioned. Because of this, our tester felt that they sterilised thoroughly during testing. What’s it like in day-to-day use? Descaling your steriliser as regularly as is needed will keep the machine working as it should. We know it’s hard to find time with a newborn but we highly recommend that you descale your steriliser on a regular basis, this could mean that you need to descale every week if you live in a hard water area or if using more than once a day.

The body of the steriliser is spacious enough for six bottles of most brands, which is more than competitors like the Nuby Natural Touch. It doesn’t, however, fit Dr Brown’s bottles which are taller than average. Pour in 1 cup (250ml) of white vinegar and leave for between 30-mins and 24-hours, depending on the extent of limescale It’s straightforward and capacious enough that our tester felt it was genuinely useful, and that she would gladly buy it again if it broke. Once the descaling process is complete, have a look at the volume of holes that are visible. If there are several holes, we’d recommend that you stop using the machine as the heat plate has been damaged. If there are only a couple and as long as the machine is still functioning as it should, you can continue using the machine, but we advise to regularly descale and watch out for any more holes appearing – stop using if more appear. The unit doesn’t seem to attract much dirt or dust and can easily be wiped down if it gets splashed. Pour any remaining liquid down the sink and rinse with clean water. Use a sponge or cloth to remove any loose bits of limescale that there might be It’s vitally important to regularly descale your steriliser to avoid operating issues and damage to the heat plate, which is in the bottom of the machine.
