Description

FLEXOID is a plasticised gelatine impregnated, cellulose based gasket material. The prime market for this material is the automotive sector, but it is also extensively used in other industries i.e. water jet cutting etc. For this reason, flexoid gasket paper is used extensively by the automotive sector. It is particularly useful in the manufacture of water pumps, fuel pumps, oil filters, gearboxes, clutch mechanisms, axle shafts, thermostats, carburettors, and many other engine components. It is a very economical material, especially where price is a factor when dealing with original equipment and replacement markets. Flexoid material awaiting further processing Characteristics

Due to the many liquids that flexoid gasket paper has, it is regularly used in the automotive industry. Sometimes known as oil jointing paper, flexoid gasket paper is particularly useful in the manufacturing of water pumps. As well as, fuel pumps, oil filters, gearboxes, clutch mechanisms, axle shafts, thermostats, carburettors, and other engine components. Stephens Gaskets Nitrile rubber gasket material is a fairly broad-spectrum type, useful in a wide range of applications. It’s particularly effective at protecting against leaks of water, oils, hydrocarbons and silicone greases, and offers better performance under high temperatures than neoprene alternatives. Flexoid is a plasticised, cellulose fibre based compound material, infused with gelatine. Manufactured primarily in the UK, Flexoid Gasket Paper is regarded as the most reliable soft paper gasket material on the market. For that reason, nearly all asbestos components today are being replaced with materials cut from non-asbestos gasket sheets of other compressed fibre material, combined with elastomers for added flexible strength. They’re good for use in a wide range of tough applications including oils, acids and steam. Exhaust gasket sheets

General Properties of Paper

Graphite gasket sheet is something of a traditional material for gasket production, but still very widely used in a range of environments and applications. The higher the carbon content of the graphite gasket paper, the more flexible it will be, but also more brittle. For this reason, high-carbon graphite sheet gasket material is often sold reinforced with various metal cores or fillers. Asbestos has various properties that traditionally made it a leading choice for industrial gasket applications. Asbestos gasket sheet is a tough and fibrous material that offers superb resistance to volatile chemicals and extremes of temperature - but it’s a particularly hazardous material to work in close proximity to. Flexoid gasket paper is relatively inexpensive, and very easy to use. This makes it a popular choice of material for the automotive industry. Due to the gelatine infusion, flexoid is highly resistant to many different types of liquid substances. Arguably one of its most appealing properties is its resistance against petrol, oil, water, and other fuels. With this in mind, it actually acts as a fantastic seal against these liquids. Limitations Of Flexoid Gasket Paper

Exhaust gasket sheet materials designed specifically for application in machinery, venting and extraction systems - particularly those used in turbo engine exhausts - need to be able to withstand very high temperatures over extended periods without failing. Flexoid is sold in printed or plain form. Material can be printed with customer’s own brand. Details on request. They’re most commonly used in pipework and ducting systems, where they’re called flange gaskets. Here they help join two sections of pipe together seamlessly to form a continuous, non-leak channel through which liquids or gases can flow. Our material conforms to ASTM F104 standards, every roll is traceable and our production is subject to testing and independent auditing

Like nitrile, silicone rubber gasket sheeting is also available in open-or-closed-cell sponge variants. Silicone gaskets are commonly found in food production environments when produced to the necessarily approved grade. Graphite gasket sheets Some gaskets are defined by their intended application, such as vehicle gaskets in the engines of cars, planes, boats and more. Others are defined by their physical composition and materials, or by the specific nature of the role they’re made to perform (such as acid resistance or high-pressure functionality). Because of its ability to seal against petrol, oil and water at low cost, Flexoid is used extensively by leading British, European and US automotive manufacturers Other high-performance options include steel and copper reinforced gaskets. Whatever the material, it’s also important that exhaust gaskets offer good resistance to gas leaks, and are fairly easy to access and maintain. High-temperature gasket sheets

It is both inexpensive and easy to use, making it a popular choice for British, European and US automotive manufacturers. Stored gaskets must be protected from wide changes of humidity and temperature to prevent dimensional change In its simplest form, a gasket is really just a small part cut out of some sheet material, very often in an ‘o-ring’ shape, that helps form a compressible leak-proof seal between two surfaces or components. Gaskets are usually made from a robust, flexible, and/or chemical/heat/acid-resistant substance. Oil paper jointing is used for engines, axles, pumps, pipes and tank flange joints. As such it finds application in the automotive, marine, aero and agricultural industries. Paper gaskets are widely used in various industries due to their affordability and versatility. Customers can customise our diverse range of paper gaskets to suit their specific needs. We produce them from high-quality materials to ensure durability and longevity. Manufacturers use them in a variety of applications, from automotive to industrial, and to seal oils, fuels, and other fluids. With our expertise and experience in manufacturing paper gaskets, you can be confident that you will receive top-quality products that meet or exceed your expectations.Carburettor; Fuel Pump; Front Plate; Oil Pump; Oil Filter; Side Cover; Timing Cover; Thermostat; Water Pump Important considerations to factor in when choosing gasket sheet materials include operating temperature, pressure, chemical compatibility and long-term cost-effectiveness of more robust products over cheaper but less reliable alternatives.

Flexoid gasket paper (otherwise known as oil paper jointing or cellulose paper) is highly resistant to liquid substances such as water, petrol, oil, and other fuels, and can provide an effective and reliable seal against these liquids. Limited uses in industrial markets because of relatively low heat and chemical resistance compared with other non-asbestos materials. Rubber gasket sheet is often thought of as a sort of ‘entry level’ or general-purpose gasket material. It offers good protection against the passage of most gases and can cope with mild acids/alkalis fairly well. However, the properties of natural rubber gasket sheet material (along with that of most other elastomers) make it a broadly unsuitable choice for oils, fuels, or very high pressure/temperature applications Cork gasket sheets Jointine Products (Lincoln) Ltd is accredited with ISO9001 and all of our papers comply with ASTM F104 standards, meaning that you can be certain of the quality of our products and service. There are many different types of gasket paper on the market, all of which have their own strengths and advantages when used in specific scenarios. In this section, we’ll go over some of the most common and widely available types of gasket sheeting. Rubber gasket sheetsOur paper is a cellulose fibre base impregnated with a plasticised chemical treatment to resist: oil, petrol, air, water, alcohol, grease and most solvents.
