About this deal

Dr. Dispenza has put in a great effort to deliver teachings that is of major importance in today’s living, curcumstances and overall consciousness. The life you are currently experiencing is based upon your past thoughts and choices. Obviously, to change, you need to make new thoughts and choices. This is uncomfortable at the beginning. When you start to think and act in new ways, it feels weird because you are creating new pathways in your brain instead of just using the same pathways you have been using your whole life. If you keep with it though, you can create a new YOU which leads to a new body, health, and endless opportunities. Yet, stories can be misleading. I would have preferred some statistics on the effects of placebo on top of the stories.

Meditation takes us from survival to creation; from separation to connection; from imbalance to balance; from emergency mode to growth-and-repair mode; and from the limiting emotions of fear, anger, and sadness to the expansive emotions of joy, freedom, and love.” So if your mind believes in something strongly, it can do wonders. But how do you make it believe if nobody gives you a pill? This is where meditation comes into play. Actually, i would call this method sort of a self-hypnosis since you are convincing yourself certain things when you are most susceptible (during meditation). Some people call this experience the dark night of the soul. It’s the phoenix igniting itself and burning to ashes. The old self has to die for a new one to be reborn. Of course that feels uncomfortable!” If meditation is about entering the autonomic system so that we can become more suggestible and overcome the challenges just mentioned, then we need to know how to get there.I do want to mention though that there does exist scientific literature for the effect of positive thinking and presenting with a higher quality of life or more healthily. This is an important concept and is the reason that I think a lot of people have benefited from reading this book. Why? Because when we change, we no longer feel like ourselves. My definition of genius, then, is to be uncomfortable and to be okay with being uncomfortable.” There are no schools of ancient spiritual wisdom sitting high on mountaintops in the Himalayas waiting to initiate us into becoming mystics and saints. Our lives are our initiation into greatness. Becoming Flawsome | Kristina Mand-Lakhian Interview | The Key to Living a Imperfectly Authentic Life This book has an excellent premise. The placebo effect is well documented, but it's hard to self-induce. For instance, people who take placebo antidepressants do almost as well as those who get the real deal -- so what if you could create that placebo effect *internally*, at will?

But then he hit me with another caveat. He tells the readers that people with strong analytical minds may not be able to use this material as they are resistant to suggestibility. I think I am open to new thoughts and ideas and have read a number of ‘new age’ books that I have enjoyed and put into practice. I am currently working through Julia Cameron’s ‘The Artist’s Way’ and don’t have any resistance. (I will do a review when I complete the 12-week program). But to get halfway through a book and get this warning was irritating at best. Dr. Joe Despenza talks about the new science of epigenetics. Meaning, we can change our DNA based on our thoughts and environment. Every thought we think is signaling our genes to express in a certain way. Toxic thinking leads to toxic expression and problems in the body- Positive thinking leads to positive gene expression and health. Dr Joe Dispenza is an international lecturer, researcher, corporate consultant, author, and educator who has been invited to speak in more than 33 countries on six continents. As a lecturer and educator, he is driven by the conviction that each of us has the potential for greatness and unlimited abilities. In his easy-to-understand, encouraging, and compassionate style, he has educated thousands of people, detailing how they can rewire their brains and recondition their bodies to make lasting changes. It’s possible that something is helpful but science still needs to catch up with scientific measurements. You have to recondition the body to be ahead of time. You have to not rely on the environment to make you feel a certain way. Not rely on your senses to tell you what is and is not happening. You condition your mind with persistance, and your body follows.Several studieshave shown that placebo surgeries—where the patient is cut open but no surgery is performed—are as effective as real surgeries. This has been observed in conditions ranging from angina to arthritis in the knees. If you need to do something later, set an alarm 10 minutes before you need to get going so you don’t end abruptly. The book is filled with data and published studies by such big names as the Mayo Clinic. Countless stories and documented individual experiences. You will learn about Randomized, double blinded research, about the difference between the Placebo and the Nocebo effect Dr. Dispenza leaves no room for questioning, his research and data speaks for itself. Dr. Joe does more than simply explore the history and the physiology of the placebo effect. He asks the question: "Is it possible to teach the principles of the placebo, and without relying on any external substance, produce the same internal changes in a person’s health and ultimately in his or her life?"

From my experience with patients with life-threatening illnesses,I have learned the truth as shared in You Are the Placebo. The bodyexperiences what the mind believes. I have learned how to deceivepeople into health for their benefit. Doctors can kill or cure with‘wordswordswords’ when they become ‘swordswordswords.’ We allhave the potential for self-induced healing built into us. The keyis to know how to achieve your potential. Read and learn.” Joe Dispenza is unfortunately another class act snake-oil salesman. He attempts to hide his anecdotal pseudoscience through a legitimate medium - the placebo effect. Now whilst I believe the placebo effect to be one of the most profound mechanisms in all of science, this book grazes over it before diving head-on into nonsense. It was difficult just reading the introduction to this book...

He makes the point that most people do not heal and deal with the same problems over and over because they are simply just signaling the same genes day in and day out by thinking the same thoughts and doing the same routine everyday. Most change starts with the simple process of something outside of us altering something inside of us. If you begin the inward journey and start to change your inner world of thoughts and feelings, it should create an improved state of well-being. If you keep repeating the process in meditation, then in time, epigenetic changes should begin to alter your outer presentation—and you become your own placebo.” Just as thoughts are the language of the brain, feelings are the language of the body. And how you think and how you feel create a state of being. A state of being is when your mind and body are working together. So your present state of being is your genuine mind-body connection.” Additional comment since the review: the more I think of this book, the angrier I get. I now feel the author is a fraud, even if he believes what he is saying. Kind of like a Billy Graham. Can't believe he was invited to give a TED Talk. Has diminished the Talks in my eyes.

I kept waiting to get to the meditation part only to find out that it's something else you need to buy or read to yourself on a pdf.The timer will also help you to get rid of the time distraction: once you set the time, forget about both the time and your task list. Despenza talks about the many functional brain scans he performs on people who sit down to meditate and visualize their body changing. Their brain is physically different before and after the meditation. There are some good things in here, but the book just violated too many of my red flags. It is based on lots of anecdotes, many of which didn't seem all that 'amazing' to me. The 'explain science in lay terms' chapters often started off OK, but then made huge leaps between the actual science and the author's idea for what the science meant. His descriptions of quantum physics, epigenetics and atomic structure seem just way off. best-selling author, international speaker, chiropractor, and renowned researcher of epigenetics, quantum physics, & neuroscience, Dr. Joe Dispenza shares numerous documented cases of those who reversed cancer, heart disease, depression, crippling arthritis, and even the tremors of Parkinson’s disease by believing in a placebo.
