I do not know if there is something wrong with my bottle but the ONLY thing i can smell on this is JASMINE, JASMINE, JASMINE. They are generally built around bergamot, oakmoss, labdanum and patchouli and have a warm, dry effect. Devin was through much of its existence presented as a 'country' eau de cologne, almost as a disclaimer. They definitely don't make them like this anymore, and depending on your personal tastes that may be for better or for worse. As an NHS business we work tirelessly to provide support to our local community with a particular focus on those most vulnerable and in need. The sound of birds, the fresh air of the forest, the tenderness of the raindrops, hand in hand with the lover, everything is beautiful and peaceful. Sometimes i close my eyes and sense how a fragrance can just make me feel or remember something, even if I cant quite put my finger on what it is. Devin, and its sister scent Alliage, have the potential to be the King and Queen of green masterpieces, but sadly it's looking like they will be reformulated out of existence and confined to history by government interference.

EDIT: Got myself a full bottle from Notino, and sadly I suspect it may have suffered from a reformulation. If you have graduated from simpler and hopelessly accessible scents and want to explore something simultaneously thought-provoking and a source of primal pleasure, then Devin is a logical progression in your fragrance journey. Maybe a crackling fireplace and some aged oak table sitting in the den, maybe its just rained and its morning and you're opening that book with a cup of tea in your hand. Some comments tend to use term "Oldfashioned", which is true for people who forgot how the nature, or animal smells, but have seen the grass only in city park, or see some animal in the zoo, or on their lap top while smelling on some sweet designers rubbish.I have to admit to being a fan of Aramis colognes in general, I have five fragrances from this house and find them all very different from each other, in a world where flankers are all over the place it's great to see a brand that diversifies its scents. The herbal freshness remains for some time (which is good) then goes to the deeper outdoorsy scent (which is really good). You can smell easily what this has in common with two of his other most famous chypres from this line also designed by the legendary Chant: the original Aramis by Aramis, and the lovely rose-leather chypre Amaris 900. There's some flowery smells here and there, namely a carnation, which is more like the green leaves and shrubs around carnation flowers.

Who said that it ain't possible nowadays to find a deep, complex, authentic oakmoss chypre fragrance that even costs little? The opening of Devin has more bitter citrus than Aliage and as it dries down, it has more pine, but they are very much related to each other. This lighter touch is, for me, anyway, also relatable to newer formulations I’ve tried of Azzaro in that I cannot really detect a leather as such, though the smoothness of labdanum and the cool, dank rustle of oakmoss (the real thing, halfway through the ingredients list on the back of the box) help to hold a place for the idea. With that said, Devin doesn't smell "groundbreaking" to me, mostly because of its heady reliance on artemisia and pine, which are used in similar fashion in contemporaries like Balenciaga Pour Homme, Bogart's Witness, and Alain Delon's signature "AD Classic. It blends it's animalistic note with the body odor and make the whole sillage thing mysterious and exotic.

Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). Devin probably takes me on more of a journey than almost any of the other fragrances I have ever worn.

Devin notes consist of aldehydes orange artemisia lavender galbanum bergamot lemon carnation cinnamon jasmine caraway pine tree needles labdanum leather amber patchouli musk oakmoss and cedar. As with so many fragrances of the era, restrictions to materials imposed by IFRA have resulted in a lack of depth and staying power. Devin ends quietly and stays very close to the skin, possibly a goal given its male target audience. Its confident and bold mossy notes will give you a sense of comfortable winter evenings in a less chaotic era.If this frag were to be reproduced or rehashed today I would have no problem with aldehydes if done right like in the opening. Eau de cologne was invented by Johann Maria Farina in 1709, though this is now used as a generic term for any scented waters with between 2-5% essences. Profoundly green with a chypre undertone, a super warm, sunny-meadow heart, with thickness of jasmine and honey and yet not sweet.
