Although I read this instead of listening to it let just say that there’s a reason that the audio had a full cast. This can be an effective storytelling device, but in this case, waiting for the private investigator heroine to get to where the reader is at the beginning of the story feels interminable.

Lauren’s body dangles from the second-floor landing, her toes no more than a few feet above the marble foyer floor. As long as neither files for divorce, before that date, she will be able to collect some of the twenty million dollar trust fund, that has been protected until then. But the money is held in a trust under the terms of which Simon cannot access the funds for any purpose that would benefit Vicky in any way for a period of ten years following the first day of their marriage. Morphing from a seemingly one note murder mystery into a long game of complexity could not have found a more appreciative reader. It certainly was a wickedly clever and fast-paced novel of greed, revenge, obsession--and quite possibly the perfect murder. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others.

Add in a 20-million-dollar trust fund, a con man financial advisor, an old unsolved murder, and the two detectives working the case. Gripping and suspenseful, this is a smartly crafted thriller that I would not hesitate to recommend. You have married couple Simon Dobias and his wife Vicky Lanier Dobias, a law professor and victims advocate, respectively, wealthy socialite Lauren Betancourt, and financial planner, Christian Newsome. His office, all leather and walnut, is a monument to his greatness, with all his diplomas and awards, photographs with presidents and high-court judges.Nary a plot hole to be found here: Ellis crafted this one with expert precision and perfect timing and I wouldn't change a SINGLE THING! I won’t spoil the book by giving away plot points, but I will say the author does as good of a job of writing a fast paced thriller that is exciting from beginning to end than I have read in quite a while. Christian: financial planner who may help Vicky to reach the trust fund before 10th year anniversary. This amount includes seller specified domestic postage charges as well as applicable international postage, dispatch, and other fees. As the novel unfolds, Simon and Vicki appear to be working at cross-purposes, with Simon embarking on an obsessive affair with the woman he can’t forget, while Vicki sets her sights on the trust fund that she’ll only be able to access after the tenth anniversary of their marriage.

My legs suddenly, inexplicably no sturdier than rubber, exhaustion sweeping over me, my pulse ratcheting up again, vibrating in my throat. If you think a child you know or work with is at risk of exploitation or is being exploited, contact the social care team at their local council. The top of the Eiffel Tower, a safari in South Africa, drinks in Times Square, the polar ice plunge in Lake Michigan, a triathlon, some race that you did in mud, always surrounded by friends and handsome men, sun-drenched and happy, glamorous and sexy, fun and energetic and free-spirited. This was an engrossing and riveting book that had so many twists and turns that I needed to hang on to my hat and hope not to get whiplash! Read more about the condition New: A new, unread, unused book in perfect condition with no missing or damaged pages.I had no idea what was going on--this book put my armchair detective skills to the test, and I failed miserably. So on I walk through the square grid of the small village, reaching the park on the southeast end of town, crossing the diagonal path, passing some homeless people, swing sets, and jungle gyms, a pack of teenagers huddled on the hill with beers they try to conceal. All I can tell you is if you liked “Gone Girl” do yourself a favor and read this book and see if you don’t like it better.

From the very start, I was hooked, as Ellis nailed EVERY SINGLE ONE of my hallmarks for fabulous and unputdownable thrillers, from short snappy chapters, to fantastic character development, and from thorough and intricate plotting, to INCREDIBLE twists that kept coming, coming, coming at just the right intervals.Murder is far from the only crime committed among this shady lot, though, or even the most recent; the full extent of these devious characters’ various schemes and revenge plots is revealed in carefully scattered clues leading to a shocking, if somewhat improbable, conclusion.
