Blair Athol’s visitors’ centre was constructed in 1987 and proudly entertains more than 80,000 tourists annually. A tour of this facility will show you how the dedicated distillers make malt whisky with locally obtained resources while you’re enjoying a taste from your dram. Getting to Blair Athol by Road Dalwhinnie Distillery stands in the Cairngorm National Park at the heart of the Scottish Highlands in the village of Dalwhinnie, about 40 minutes drive from us here at Atholl Palace Hotel. Made in the highest and coldest working distillery in Scotland, with water from a loch at 2000 feet, Dalwhinnie whisky thrives on extreme conditions, creating a liquid as sweet and accessible as its highland home is remote. Choose from a guided tour of Dalwhinnie Distillery followed by a tutored tasting of 3 Dalwhinnie Single Malts, individually paired with handmade Scottish highland chocolates plus a gift or experience a fully guided distillery tour followed by a whisky masterclass of six Dalwhinnie Single Malts including the Distillery Exclusive Bottling and Special Release, individually paired with chocolates from the Highland Chocolatier.

Blair Castle is fortunate to have one of the best archives of any historic house in Scotland and it’s been wonderful to see the story of these fabulous bottles come to life in the archives. Whisky has always been a huge part of the history of Blair Castle and we will be building an exhibition around the bottles we keep after the auction”.
