Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori Will of the Wisps are two of my all time faves. Especially the second one, which has amazing combat. First didn’t have bad combat, but it wasn’t thrilling. Combat in the 2nd is actually thrilling. Kudos therefore to Video Games Plus for being the first and only retailer in Canada so far to list these titles (as standard retail editions). Always satisfying to see the smaller retailers beat sleepy EB Games and Best Buy to the punch!

The game is a platformer at heart, so this doesn't hurt it much, but it's a weird addition. It's the sort of combat I'd expect to find a phone game. As the first completely-new (non-remake) 2D Metroid game to be developed in 19 years, there was a lot riding on Metroid Dread. Fortunately, the game was a success and in our review, we found that it was "easily one of the highlights for the Nintendo Switch library." BAN indeed I definitely see what you’re saying. I recently played a very sad, dark game - Detention when I was in a tough place in my life and it was perfect. Now I don’t feel any need to revisit it, but I was glad to explore it when I did. I tried the demo of the first but it failed to grab me. The opening prologue was heartwarming and heart wrenching but when the gameplay started, it felt like one of the many atmospheric puzzle platforms that dominated the indie scene last gen and just kept on making me want to stop playing. That said keeping space for exploring melancholy and the darker side of life to some degree can be important too. I'm still excited to try the Ori demo, the color palette is lighter than Hollow Knight, so I'm hopeful, b/c it sure is beautiful.

According to Nintendo Everything, iam8bit has narrowed down the physical release date. It will reportedly be arriving this December. Obviously, both games in their standalone form will cost a lot less than the collector's edition. Never played this game till the Switch. The first one that is; yet to touch the second one. The 1st one- the game play requires either a glass of wine or a good beer as so reliant on game mechanics that you yearn for the moments of just plain shoot and run while not standing in fire/purple/green stuff. Both seemed loved, but I find the game too reliant on mechanics to point at times predictably sets in that when you do have a boss fight that is just a fight it reminds you there is a story here. The highest scoring game in my rating system is Zelda Breath of the Wild (9.723), and Super Mario Odyssey (9.721) being the close second. Upgrade your gear as you keep trying to find the cause behind the strange earthquakes that have started up. Be wary, as there's danger to be found everywhere. NEStalgia It does in my book. This game is absolutely beautiful so naturally I really want to play it over and over, but when I try to, it doesn’t take long for me to feel utterly depressed by it. And the older I get, the more I start to feel like I don’t want to spend my free time on actively getting myself depressed. Hollow Knight had a similar effect on me, but I think Ori is even more of a drag than that one. Just my opinion, of course. Glad other people like it. cyrus_zuo My sentiments exactly. Lately I’m just trying to consume more media that lifts my spirits and acts as a respite from the seriousness of real life. Ultimately this game does have a positive message, but there’s a lot of sadness along the way.
