We also support specialist education setting to promote a whole school ethos and environment that supports the emotional and mental health of pupils, staff and the wider school community. We can also offer signposting and resources to the professional network around the child or young person to enable them to identify any concerns and support any developing mental health needs. We can work with parents and schools to enable them to nurture children and young people’s emotional health, wellbeing and build emotional resilience. The criteria for making a diagnosis of ADHD in children, teenagers and adults are outlined below. Diagnosis in children and teenagers Sleep problems –finding it difficult to get to sleep at night, and having irregular sleeping patterns

We assure you of complete confidentiality at all times, and all of our trained therapists are genuine, approachable, knowledgeable and ethical.Diagnosing ADHD in children depends on a set of strict criteria. To be diagnosed with ADHD, your child must have 6 or more symptoms of inattentiveness, or 6 or more symptoms of hyperactivity and impulsiveness.

I spoke to a lady called Sarah who was fantastic. She related to what I was saying about my son and signposted me to get lots of support. She could not have been more patient and helpful. autistic spectrum condition (ASC)–this affects social interaction, communication, interests and behaviour The service looks and feels different for families, children and young people receiving the service and for referral agencies, not only because of the additional investment in existing and new services, but also because: There are a number of different specialists you or your child may be referred to for a formal assessment, including:I needed someone to talk to, and the support line was exactly what I needed. I couldn’t recommend it enough to other parents going through the same thing.” The symptoms of ADHD in children and teenagers are well defined, and they're usually noticeable before the age of six. They occur in more than one situation, such as at home and at school. Inattentiveness We feel that it is important for young people to have their needs met at the earliest opportunity rather than a reliance on a diagnosis before interventions are put in place. We know that by embedding interventions early can make a meaningful difference. NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) recommend that interventions should be embedded for a minimum of 10 weeks prior to a diagnostic assessment.

We also provide training to professionals working with children and young people. We deliver multi-agency training for the Surrey Safeguarding Children Board, as well as bespoke training courses to groups of professionals as requested. We are asking professionals to support children, young people and families to use readily available intervention resources before making a routine referral to us through the Access and Advice service. Since October 2022, we have a referral process in place whereby requests for support for children and young people with possible neurodevelopmental needs (such as ADHD and Autism), are referred into us via the child's school/education provider rather than via a GP. This is done collaboratively with the school and child's parents/carers as, together, they will have a fuller understanding of the child's day to day challenges/needs in different environments.Child Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (CISVA) service offering support through the criminal investigation process Autistic people can have differences with interpreting both verbal and non-verbal language like gestures or tone of voice. Some autistic people are unable to speak or have limited speech while other autistic people have very good language skills but struggle to understand sarcasm or tone of voice. Other areas of difference include: We often work with social workers and schools to help them think about how best to meet the needs of sexually abused children, young people and their families. We offer consultation over the phone or we can come to see you to talk in more detail. Many children go through phases where they're restless or inattentive. This is often completely normal and does not necessarily mean they have ADHD. But you should consider raising your concerns with your child's teacher, their school's special educational needs co-ordinator (SENCo)if you think their behaviour may be different from most children their age. We recognise children and young people do not want to always be seen in a clinic or a school setting, so advice and help will become more visible and accessible in the local community, closer to home.

The Solace Centre, also known as a Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC), provides local communities with a safe, discreet and caring environment to support victims of rape and sexual assault. Our Mindworks Surrey community teams work across Surrey and are made up of health and social care professionals. These multi-disciplinary teams promote good mental health and provide assessment and treatment to children and young people up to the age of 18 with a mental health condition. We know that life experiences can look like neurodivergent needs including sleep, diet, life trauma, time away from peers during covid etc. We therefore ask that attempts are made to support these areas of need in the first instance in liaison with your school nurse, SENCO or primary mental health worker linked with the school. The new service offers better advice and signposting for children, young people, parents and school staff, 1-1 support and group work for children, young people and parents (both within school and out of school settings). The support for children, school staff and parents is becoming more creative and widened to make more use of the many additional services available from our alliance partners. My Safety Plan One Stop triages referrals from health, education and social care professionals for the services listed below: In the case of crisis, professionals can make a request for support to Access and Advice (formerly CAMHS Single Point of Access) on 0300 222 5755, 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 12pm Saturday.
