Description

After the name was finalized, the band first gained attention in Seattle. They recorded 10 songs in a Seattle studio. That studio's founder recorded the songs on tape and gave them to Jonathan Poneman, founder of the Northwest independent record label, Sub Pop Records. Poneman took an interest in Nirvana and invited them to perform at the label's monthly “Sub Pop Sunday” show. It was the opportunity Cobain had been waiting for. On the day of the show, they arrived four hours early, and Cobain threw up from nerves before the show. After the show, Poneman suggested releasing a single with the band.

This phrase is not idiomatic and, as such, its meaning is going to be open to quite a bit of interpretation. As your question (and the comments) note, there are two distinct phrases here: It is important to point out that they did not have an overnight success. They recorded their first album Bleach in 1989. They participated in various festivals and ‘indie’ concerts. It was not until 1991 when the band became famous. Their album Nevermind (released in 1991) was their breakthrough. All the dreams the musicians had came true. Nonetheless, Kurt Cobain became even more depressed. Admittedly, he who always wanted people to leave him alone found himself in the center of people’s attention. His drug addiction worsened. GA ADA gunanya sama sekali. Heavier Than Heaven tells the story of the man who created Nirvana, from his childhood until the tragedy surrounding his death. This book also accounts for the story of Nirvana. Although I'm not catholic, reading this book was a little like reading Jesus Christ story: even though I know the end, it's impossible to avoid the desire that it had been otherwise. I had never asked you to make me care about you but it happened - against the hype, against the odds - and now you are in my imagination forever. And I figure you're in heaven too. But how exactly does it help you now, to know that you, too, were once adored?" Dit schreef de Canadese auteur Douglas Coupland in een brief aan Kurt Cobain, net na zijn dood in zijn essaybundel "Polaroids from the Dead". Ook al vond ik deze bundel van één van mijn favoriete auteurs (die eer dankt hij bijna enkel en alleen aan zijn cultboek "Generation X") wisselvallig van toon en flets geschreven, is deze brief lang blijven hangen. Samen met het verhaal "The German Reporter", voor de volledigheid.

Update

One of the themes most prevalent throughout the Biography of Kurt Cobain was that you can achieve almost anything if you keep at it. You can achieve almost anything because Kurt’s record tops the charts, he becomes famous worldwide, and he never listened to anyone who said he couldn’t do it. this book is almost equal parts fiction and Courtney Love approved versions of "actual events." it gives some information, but it should be taken with a grain of salt. there are TONS of proven historical errors. i don't blame the author for the misinformation, however, as he had to have everything cleared by Courtney Love. he did lose his credibility, though. i can't believe they used him on "busted circuits and ringing ears: the TAD story" dvd that came out a year ago.

As the band's fame grew, so did the pressure on Cobain. In the face of so much attention on him, he became increasingly uneasy. His stomach problems and drug addiction grew more serious as he got more famous. Courtney's pregnancy temporarily lifted Cobain’s spirits. For the sake of the baby, he found a doctor to help him get clean and later went to the hospital. But Cobain struggled, repeatedly alternating between rehab, relapse, and then rehab again. More often, he had to take drugs to get rid of his painful stomachaches.Cross took the name "Heavier Than Heaven" from a tour Nirvana did with the band Tad in the United Kingdom. The lead singer, Tad Doyle, was very obese; the name which was thought up by the tour promoters, was meant in part to poke fun at the inaccurate idea that Tad alone weighed more than all of the members of Nirvana put together. Cobain originally had a happy childhood. Every summer, the whole family would go to a cabin on the beach for vacation, and they would go skiing together in the winter. These were some of Cobain's fondest memories. However, the happy part of Cobain's childhood ended at the age of nine.
