If you've already got a good DAC, the Cambridge CXC transport is a no-brainer." 'What Hi-Fi? Sound & Vision magazine'. 5-star review.

Further, many people feel that CD sound is best played from a CD only reader played at CD’s spin speed as opposed to multi readers in Blu-ray players. I think you will find that the CXC will sound superior to any multi-reader (perhaps without regard to price). I find the CXC sounds better than the Oppo 205 for CD replay for example. If you already own an external DAC, we would not hesitate to recommend the Cambridge CXC over a standalone CD player. You’ll have to spend a good deal more than this to match the sound quality it offers. When it comes time to listen to music, how we listen, through what medium, directly effects our experience. Radio, streaming, serving, records, cassettes, and discs, each offer up a different kind of experience. As such, they each offer a medium-specific connection to music. But this reality is often overwhelmed by notions of sound quality, as if CDs and LPs are at war with one another, and as soon as we leave the room and turn out the lights, the real fighting begins, with CDs smashing LPs and vice versa. And this is a fight to the death, where there can be only one winner.

Here’s the thing. When it comes time to listen to music, how we listen, through what medium, directly effects our experience. In terms of sound quality, the Cambridge CXC mostly proved the better sound quality source when compared to streaming. That’s just that. But I’m equally, yes equally, interested in the entire experience. So playing CDs does not render streaming obsolete, it provides another form of music enjoyment. And I like more enjoyment whenever I can get it. Its a bit of arms race, but I feel I got on the right ‘plane’, where major compromises in sound weren’t a factor. While the laser uses light to read the disc, everything going on inside the box, as it were, makes for a perfect storm of electrical and mechanical noise that’s intent on traveling. So its also the job of every CD transport or player to deal with said noise and keep it from contaminating our precious and susceptible analog signal.Respect your choices and will inform you if there are important changes that affect your personal information or how we use it. While streaming undoubtedly has the convenience factor compared to physical media, many of us still prefer owning a physical object – something that digital files can't replicate. And that's why we still regularly review CD players and CD transports, and have done so ever since 1983. What Hi-Fi? said:Cambridge Audio opted for a ground-up rebuild for its CXA81 amp – and it has created a thing of lasting beauty. For customer satisfaction surveys and to allow us to improve your experience should you need support from one of our experts; Please note that we may take reasonable steps to verify your identity and the authenticity of the request. Now a standard fitment, Bluetooth offers simple, wireless music streaming from your mobile, tablet or laptop. Stream stored music or popular music streaming services such as Spotify, Tidal and Apple Music. The Bluetooth receiver is compatible with aptX HD, giving the highest quality sound possible from Bluetooth, right up to 24bit/48kHz. You also get the benefit of the sound passing through the ESS Sabre DAC, meaning precise, detailed sound from all your streamed music. Owners of the CD6006 needn't rush to change their player, but the CD6007 is most definitely the right choice for first-time buyers at this end of the market. It's a nicely made bit of kit too, with a machined-metal chassis that feels solid and a design than matches the rest of Cambridge Audio's impressive CX range, including a streamer and integrated stereo amplifier. For example we use the services of the 3rd party company Zendesk to manage our support interactions with you. We will only send you marketing communications when you have told us that you are happy for us to do so.

If all you're after is a CD player, then you might want to choose something more dedicated in this list that puts all its eggs in the audio basket. But if versatility is required and you want to stream your music services over wi-fi as well as spin records - and why not - then this Technics is worth your attention. We use the personal information from your online interactions, by itself and in combination with your customer record (the information you share with us), in the following ways:

Summary

To monitor the performance and stability of our products so that we can optimise their performance and your experience of them; in particular, we want to be able to identify when there may be an issue with your product so that we can let you know about it as soon as possible (and potentially before the issue actually arises); The CXA81 perhaps sounds a little forward, but its level of expression is such that it is sympathetic to more minimal, sombre recordings as well. Feed it a solo piano work or chamber quartet and it is only too pleased to show you its more caring, gentle side. Exhale. Some people who read that last paragraph think — never mind. Too much stuff, too much complexity. And I get that. The beauty of listening to CDs is simplicity — insert CD, hit Play. Done. If price isn't an issue and pure sound quality is your focus, then the Marantz SA-10 could be the CD player for you. This impressive-looking box can handle pretty much anything you care to throw in its direction. That includes SACDs and FLAC, DSD128, ALAC, AIFF and MP3 files fed into the player via USB.
