Shoshanna is one of the lovely h, no flaws or wrong decisions (which are not) overshadowed her character. So, even as I stand in the shadows with him, as people get hurt... as people die… I refuse to let him believe he's nothing more than a piece in his Family's corrupt empire. OW drama - the H is a huge flirt, and I was really put off with both his catting around in the last book, and all the interest he paid to OW in this book, even if it was supposedly innocent. It was ok when he was obviously doing it to get the h riled up, but there’s a scene in the hospital where the h isn’t around and he’s totally flirting and touching a nurse. It made me angry. Why???

One trope I can’t stand and avoid at all costs is the pregnancy trope. The pregnancy usually takes over the storyline, and the lovers seems to lose themselves and their spark and what makes them “them”, but I pushed through and I’m glad I did. The author made sure the characters stayed true to themselves throughout the whole story, and ya know what? I didn’t mind the pregnancy one bit! In fact, it added to the story in such a good way, and I wouldn’t change a thing! I was sad about how the book ended and he did not learn about what happened after, but that means there could be another book which I am hoping. I believe this book definitely is for mature readers and can be a standalone book like stated, but also makes me want to read the others to understand the story better. I loved how the author gave very descriptive details on what happened at times. It caused me to be able to visualize what was happening in that exact moment. I will also admit this was a book I was able to sit and read all day due to being so absorbed into it. This one had the slight edge for me on the previous book in the series and this one unlike the first is definitely set firmly in the criminal underbelly. This is Cassidy Slater and Max Butchers story Cassidy is the baby Sister of Konnor and Max is a key player in the district. Some plot hole are left open at the end of the book but that's too be expected in a duet and nothing is left grossly unexplained. Its all so very well done! As the youngest leading ballerina in my academy, my days are set. Routine. No time for boys. Unfortunately, my mind didn't get the memo, because there is always one name playing on my lips. . . Max Butcher.The book ends on such a tension, sad cliffhanger. I cannot wait to see what's going to happen next. Does Cassidy finally get her ballet dreams of dancing around the world? Will she get to be with Max or is he just too far out of her world?

The end of this book made it for me. Ugh. It was so good. I cried. CRIED. THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE LAST 20% We have Cassidy, an 18 year old ballerina who lives, breath, and sleeps dance. But has had a crush on Max Butcher since he saved her brother when they were children. She only finally gets close to him on her 18th birthday due to her friend hanging out with him. So we go on an emotionally roller coaster of what they will lead to or if it will be anything at all. You know, a handsome huge gangster is considerate and patient more than you and same time dying from his longing for you and same time boiling for revenge for who did this to you.WHO JUST WANTS SMUT AND ENDS UP CRYYYYIIIIING AND SO IN LOVE WITH THE STORY?!?!?! Man, I’m all up in my feels!

I was completely blown away with this book. If you haven’t read Our Thing you need to read it first. Because this is the second book of Cassidy and Max’s story.

I wish threre was an extended epilogue though. A look into the life that Max & Cassidy built for Kelly and hopefully more babies. I also want to mention I really enjoyed the balletic details scattered throughout. It’s clear Nicci Harris is either a former dancer, or she just really put a lot of time into her research. Either way, brava!
