On a personal note, my greatest ‘4K experience’ so far has been watching the entire GoT series in 4K - my first time ever watching the series. The caves are very dark but the outside is brightly lit by the dragon Caraxes’ fire breath riden by Daemon. It seems clear that interviews with the cast and creatives were conducted during filming and there's a lot being cut and pasted together, but why are we being shown so little?

Even the featurettes, when watched one after another, feel repetitive, with the same clips being cobbled together. With a native 4K source gleamed from cinema-grade LF cameras and what will likely be cinema-grade Dolby Atmos audio, it should be reference-grade demo material in the war scenes. The use of bass is excellent, it has great power for the dragons and even in the opening title score. Show spoiler] they’ve already stated this series will have many time jumps, including in the 6th episode of this season with a significant time leap forward and older versions/recastings of some major characters like Princess Rhaenyra and Alicent…so who knows how far they can take this show as it goes along, I’m sure if it remains successful they’ll try and keep it going, hopefully not run it into the ground though…. Seeing as House of the Dragon takes places 200 years before that I really wouldn't be getting your hopes up. And, with Dolby Vision and HDR10, supporting TVs and screens can display deeper color depth and detail in shadow and highlight areas.

All the other technical aspects are superb just as you would expect- VFX, Costumes, Set design, etc. Anything is possible and it's best to go in with limited expectations to avoid getting your hopes up which is exactly what I've been doing. After the disappointing climax to GoT I was a bit wary of a this prequel but it has turned out really well. Most of the video is reference-quality 4k, although there are scenes when low light renders a flat and grainy image (visible also in digital formats).
