The Brothers Hildebrandt are American twin brothers who collaboratively worked as fantasy and science fiction artists. He leaves them all alive except for Pecos, so we know there was a point where John wasn’t just a stone-cold bad ass (yet still a bad ass). It's all about the character and you see what he's going through, but it's also about the pauses, the uncomfortable silences.

The boy has stolen money off of these criminals and thus the scene culminates with Calamity shooting a bazooka at young John, but instead hitting a small village, killing 53 villagers in the process, including his friend Fidelio.
