ARCTIC claims each application has an 8-year durability, whereas Noctua only promises 5 with their NT-H2. Arctic's MX-5 thermal grease is comprised of aluminum oxide, aluminum powder, aluminum nitride, polydimethylsiloxane, magnesium oxide and boron nitride. It can cause corrosion, it is hard to apply, it can short out your other parts due to its conductive nature, and it will need to be re-applied much more often do to not having as long of a lifespan.

I have a four year old laptop with a GeForce 1070 unit which has required annual replacement of the cooler master maker nano whatever material.I always use Noctua even though I dont use Noctua coolers I do use only Noctua fans, it may not be fancy or as sexy as the various thermal blah blah etc but it works and it works consistently and my temps are always fine and splitting apart for maintenance or swops is never an issue, I may lose a deg or 2 ( or gain lol) but hell who cares. High CPU load results were obtained using the Prime95 in-place large FFTs test with eight worker threads for a minimum of 15 minutes or until the temperature was deemed stable. Arctic MX-4, MX-5, and MX-6 are all thermal pastes that are used to improve heat transfer between the CPU or GPU and the heat sink enhancing system performance and stability. Emerging from this, the MX-6 claims the spotlight with superior thermal conductivity, reduced resistance, and a focus on addressing concerns like durability and leakage.

We are known worldwide for our high-performance air and water coolers as well for our thermal pastes. We'll send breaking news and in-depth reviews of CPUs, GPUs, AI, maker hardware and more straight to your inbox.Since the idle test is not a good indicator of a product's true performance potential, let us look ahead into the load test results. Get to know us and our values, and learn more about the ARCTIC offices in Germany, Hong Kong and the USA. ARCTIC has mentioned that the color of MX-5 is blue though it seems more like a shade of light blue color. Since Arctic is discontinuing the MX-5 product perhaps the issues they faced were more than just a bad batch, and not something the company was able to fix without changing to a new formula. Some mention that it spreads easily and cools very well, while others say that it's a lot harder to spread and get an equal level, and that the very thick paste doesn't spread well.

They mention that it's good thermal paste for high-end cpus, sticksier than MX4, and has no noticeable thermal difference. This direct contact improves heat conduction and allows heat to move away from the component more effectively.

We don't yet know exactly what to expect from MX-6, but our hunch tell us that this will be a yet another all-around performer from Arctic, but perhaps designed to better suit the upcoming CPUs from AMD and Intel. In any case, the new thermal grease should be available shortly, so we are going to find out soon enough.

It went on very badly, putting a pea sized blob in the middle of the CPU heat spreader it felt rigid and like sticky blutac. This lower thermal resistance means the thermal compound allows transfer of more heat through the same surface area. As thermal pastes go, MX-series compounds are reliable and perform better than most pre-applied thermal pastes. Each of these thermal compounds promises to enhance heat dissipation, consequently influencing system temperatures and overall performance.Watercooling for the PC has been around for years in some form or another, for at least as long as Scan have been in business, with basic physics defining why you want to use it. New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging (where packaging . This does not even have to be the case when the paste is already in operation, it also occurs during storage in the tube. Room temp between the grizzly and mx4 test has been 24-28c, the MX-5 still performed the same at a room temp of 30c during the heatwave! It'll be interesting to see if Arctic starts including the MX-6 paste with their existing or upcoming coolers, though I think they'll stick to what they currently use since the MX-5 wasn't included with coolers AFAIK.
