I talk about the Trinity because the Trinity is just that important, preeminent and central to reality and theology, to the world we live in and the truth we believe.

In effect, then, the total Eucharistic mystery includes the presence of both the Father and the Holy Spirit as an inseparable concomitant .And the love shared by the members of the Trinity becomes the model for all other earthly or human relationships. For our group, explaining Christ as the fully human fully Divine Son of God is not so difficult, as each of the regulars in our class has a parent who is Japanese and a parent from a different background. McGuire's writing style of seeing the Trinity "through a fan's eyes" helps the reader to engage in the 60s and 70s culture and brings greater focus on growing up during this period, for both the Trinity and the fan. The Trinity is like a three-leaf clover which has THREE different cloves coming together to make ONE leaf.

And I think one point of confusion or mixed signaling that often happens is that parents will bring the kids to church, and the kids see their parent at church and hear all these things about grace and love and Jesus, but then when they’re at home, all they experience is punishing expectations of success.
