But once Ryan's mom shows up, it gave that perspective to the story and allowed Ryan to be able to take a step back and evaluate the situation, the relationship and what would be best for zoey, the person with the keast powerr at the time. It’s sweet and adorable and precious and dark and angsty and emotional – it might be quicker for me just to say that it was a bit of an emotional roller-coaster ride by the end.

Worried about his career after being suspended and the threat of being traded, Mica agrees to a fake marriage to satisfy the team owner despite his reservations. A chance encounter at a random café causes Vancouver hockey player, Ryan Parker, and current homeless twenty-year old, Zoey to meet. That said, I absolutely loved these two both as individuals and as a couple and despite their rocky road to happiness I was invested. Honestly, it was a pleasant surprise to find that nearly all my problems in the first book were IMMENSELY IMPROVED in this installment. I really loved how this story touched on the power dynamics between a very wealthy hero and a dirt-poor heroine.

Every book in this series does have a suspense aspect where there's a villain, which I actually like! She came from a place of love and kindness for her son but also a ton of understanding and empathy for Zoe as a woman and as a human being who had been through so much. Odette not only handles it with grace, but is incredibly realistic about what Zoey's life is like and dives deep into the emotions of her reality. This story was more character driven than the last, meaning that though the hockey aspect was important to the plot, the characters and their arcs were the main focus of this story.

Excellent older parent figures and while I was reading this book, the the entire time I was thinking about how weird it was that Ryan didn't see how the situation looks in regard to him "saving" Zoe from being homeless and then immediately having her live with him as a sexual and romantic partner even though she had no resources of her own and has never been able to really care for herself financially or otherwise. This is the second in a series of standalones and while the beginning was a bit slow and lacked chemistry, the rest of the book picks up and eventually comes to a satisfying ending. I fell in love with Mica, the crazy Russian hockey player, in the 2 nd book of this series Home Game, so I was really excited to learn more about him and watch the man who didn’t believe in love and family find that and boy did he. She did not realize she could make a career out of acting until she watched a Dawson's Creek behind-the-scenes special in which Katie Holmes was interviewed.

Her writing goal is to keep her readers up late at night, because they keep saying, "Just one more chapter, I'm just going to read one more chapter. A night out with a childhood friend from Russia whose business aren’t all on the up and up lands Mica in hot water and under police investigation. There were other minor things that could’ve been better, but I don’t want to nit-pick, I’m already looking forward to rereading this book.I’m falling deeper in love with this cast of characters and I can’t wait to see what’s next for them. Bailey has also voiced Catwoman in Batman: The Telltale Series, Supergirl in Injustice 2, Mary Jane Watson in the Marvel's Spider-Man series, and Black Widow in a number of Marvel projects (particularly the television series Avengers Assemble and the video game Marvel's Avengers). The slow burn romance was full of tension and indecision, yet the moments of care and attentiveness between the MCs made up for the frustration. To be honest, it would have been one thing if she wanted to add a lot of plot points but to add so many and then resolve them so poorly is the real crime. Ryan and Zoey were such wonderful friends and their relationship was based on so much trust and understanding.

This was just a whole miscommunication fest; I never realized how much that bothered me until reading this book. Another point earlier on in the book when Zoe and aryan are talking about her style choices, soecifcalky in regard to employment she says something about how being blonde andbwearing tight skirts etc would somehow make her less threatening and her not really feeling the need to do that, and then later on GOING BLONDE and wearing all this pink as if the only way to be feminine is by being petite/small, blonde and PINK(! es el nuevo jugador transferido de los Wolves de Vancouver y ella es una homeless que vive al día y lucha por cada dólar ganado. There's an attempt on the stalkers part to blackmail Zoey and I was afraid this would overwhelm the plot.We see quite a bit of Ryan and Zoey from the second book and a bit of Rory, the team owner’s daughter and assistant GM and we meet some new characters including Mica’s somewhat overbearing mother who turns out to be not so bad once you get to know her and it’s evident that despite their rough past there’s love there. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. It’s also the fact both of them were grown adults but were acting like children around each other; some of their actions in this book were so ridiculous that I can’t even describe. I was screaming at them “just do it already” and alas they finally did and well, it was worth the wait.
