After an hour of listening to it exclaim platitudes and clichés over plucked strings and Elton-lite keys, drowning kittens seems like a really fine way to spend the afternoon. The new album follows the multi-platinum, international Number 1 debut `Back To Bedlam' - the best-selling LP of the millennium - and is once again produced by Tom Rothrock. The fourth and final single from the standard edition of the album, " I Really Want You", was only released as a promotional single, although a music video does exist.Blunt's voice is quite the acquired taste, and nothing on here really stands out or connects from a thematic or lyrical standpoint.
Moving slowly away from the laboured tracks of the first album, there are some superb uplifting tracks here, James proving he can provide a beat, more electric guitar than he is really comfortable with at this stage, but it doesn't show in the recordings themselves.Kerri Mason, reviewing for Billboard, gave the album a positive review, saying that Blunt "shows the abandon and confidence of a long-term artist, not just a one-hit wonder".
