The fact that you can still use your normal gears with a mid-drive motor makes also this mid-drive motor system really versatile. If you need to climb a steep hill, you will select a low gear. If you have a nice flat piece of road, you can select a high gear. So if you select the right gears, you will be able to climb the steepest of hills effortlessly! With the 750W version, you will also be able to reach speeds of up to 40 km/h (25mph) in a breeze. If you however want to reach higher speeds, you will need to pedal a little harder. But for most riders, 40 km/h (25mph) will already be more than sufficient! Torque-sensing feature

The Tongsheng TSDZ2 motor is available at different power levels. At a voltage of 36V, the options are: 250W, 350W, and 500W. At a voltage of 48V, the options are: 500W and 750W. I said the TSDZ2 max power was a touch low, but it still does the job. My electrified Sutra weighs 36kg, I weight about 85kg, and even carrying about five kilos of shopping it’ll still trundle up a 12% hill at 20kph-ish. Add more weight (say my four-year-old), and you’ll need to change down another gear, and will be going up the same hill at maybe 15kph. On the flat it’ll happily get you up to 25kph (where the assist fades away; again, a legislation thing). This Tongsheng TSDZ2 review is based on my experience installing over 30 of these motor kits on bikes as diverse as road bikes, mountain bikes and recumbents. Find out more about my electric bike conversion service. So how will a torque-sensing system assist you? A torque-sensing system will assist with a certain amount of power that is proportional to the amount of force you exert on the pedals. If you pedal harder, you will get assisted more. If you pedal lighter, you will get assisted less. Because of this, you could say that the system will “amplify” your leg power with electric power. This amplification will result in a really natural-feeling ride experience. It will feel like you have really strong legs and you also won’t really notice that you are riding an electric bike. 3. Clutch Upgrade

Yes, the Tongsheng TSDZ2 can be programmed by the end user. Although, the process is more complicated (than with the Bafang) and requires a certain degree of technical skill. The main route used is through OpenSource software. Plus, you will need to buy an ST-Link V2which is an in-circuit debugger and programmer. The ST-Link V2 is a communication device required for reprogramming the TSDZ2 Enhanced cycling experiences facilitated by the torque sensor, which adjusts to the amount of force applied to the pedals

Whereas the TSDZ2 uses a torque sensor, the Bafang uses a cadence sensor giving the motor a very on/off feel. The Bafang is much quieter, almost silent. But, it’s heavier, more expensive and just as prone to technical faults. For more information, please read my Bafang vs Tongheng comparison article. What’s included in the TSDZ2 conversion kit? The torque sensor plays a crucial role here, providing proportional assistance based on your pedaling effort. This feature not only conserves battery but also mimics the feeling of riding a traditional bike. Expect a range of 40-50 miles on a single charge, making it suitable for daily commutes or leisurely rides. The first time electric bikes arrived in the bicycle market, there were mixed reactions regarding their performance and potential benefits. As more people began to accept them, manufacturers went over heels with their designs and continued to release exceptional machines. When you get yourself an e-bike, you afford yourself the chance to enjoy using a machine that takes cycling experiences to a whole new level. You'll enjoy maximum comfort when riding effortlessly across hilly or gentle terrains. I've done over 600 miles on mine in 2 months and really enjoy it. It's a 36v 350w. The range I get out of the battery is phenomenal. My kit is the 48v 750w with a Hailong 48V 17.5ah battery. Its quite hilly where I live and I didn't want battery anxiety whilst out. I have been out on it all afternoon so this is my early impressions.

E-BIKE

Finally i got the replacement LCD display with the right plug on it(only took 4 1/2 mths to sort out lol) and at last i have ridden it and can give an opinion. Didn't like it at first, being used to a Bafang BBS01 250w ,it seemed weak considering it was 350w and limited in available adjustments but i will persevere.

There are lots of really detailed installation guides that precisely show the steps that you need to take. I can recommend this video, it covers everything from start to finish. Performance prepare to pedal harder on a torque sensing e-bike compared to a cadence sensing e-bike. The good points are your battery consumption is much lower and you keep your legs fit. You pair it with a battery and an unassisted bike, do some intermediate-complexity bike-spannering, and you have a ebike. The TSDZ2 is usually a good fit for recumbent bikes. I have installed this motor on several Ice Trikes with great success. Read my article on fitting an electric conversion kit to a recumbent trike. The TSDZ2 is a particularly good fit for recumbent trikes Electric Bike Conversions is registered with four of these schemes - Bike2Work, Cycle Scheme, Green Commute Initiative and CyclePlus.
