How terrible when they find out they are being discarded and sent to a convent, at the mercy of the nuns who are supposed to be taking care of them, but they do anything but. Until years later, when a police investigation is launched, and she realises that the time has finally come to tell the truth. Marie Hargreaves has waived her right to anonymity to speak out about the alleged assaults during her time at Greenfield House Convent in St Helens, Merseyside. Her Catholic parents Fred and Kathleen provided Marie a happy home but they just couldn't cope with eight children and desperate poverty.

Marie says from the age of six she was savagely beaten, mentally abused and subjected to horrific sexual assaults with a coat-hanger while living at the convent between 1959 and 1963. I would like to thank NetGalley, Mirror Books and the author Marie Hargreaves for my ARC in exchange for an honest review. Nicki Minaj releases Megan Thee Stallion diss track Big Foot and hits low: 'Why did you lie about your lipo? This book takes us through Marie’s life of poverty and being sent away to live in a convent for three years of her childhood, the scars of this time never leaving her.Serena Williams tries to slip into denim Valentino skirt as a 'goal' five months after giving birth. But said she did not feel able to talk about the sexual element of the abuse until after the death of her husband, Jack Hargreaves, in 2010. I got a bad feeling as soon as I saw her and looked around to see if I could grab Freddie’s hand and run. Although it’s a weight off her shoulders, Marie will never get over the horror of those three years. ITV's Love Island All Stars faces backlash from fans over complaints about the format: 'Streaming platforms have me spoiled!

However, at times I found this book was hard to get through because of the sheer monotony and audacity of the situations that Marie went through. A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: 'We can confirm that an investigation into this matter was concluded in January 2016 following the death of the suspect, and consequently no further action was taken. A police investigation in December 2015 revealed Sister O'Brien as a suspect, but she died before the case could be heard in court. She isn't even allowed to keep her own name and the Convent is overseen by an utterly vicious and sadistic nun.I cannot imagine what poor Marie went through and I felt so sad for her and the children in the convent. She has had a good life with children of her own and a second loving husband, but she is very scarred, as interviews in the papers show even more than her words in the book. It was just one of those things kids say, but it made me cry, because it was the only show of affection I'd had for years. The devastating crimes of a nun who beat and sexually abused little girls and encouraged older children to do the same have been laid bare in a new book.
