Description

The wine is claimed to be a classic blend of the finest parcels of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier from Kent. This complex sparkling wine has been aged on lees for five and a half years before its release now. Described by head winemaker Josh Donaghay-Spire as displaying “complex aromas of ripe apple, fresh red berries and toasted brioche”, this wine is “perfect for grand celebrations”. The whisky is housed in a Dartington Crystal decanter, tinted in a deep sapphire blue hue, reminiscent of the precious stones set within the Imperial State Crown. In keeping with Royal Salute’s signature style, the decanter is presented in a wooden box inspired by the iconic Westminster Abbey, with details intricately chiselled into the wood, paying tribute to the historic setting of British Coronation ceremonies since 1066. Combining flavours of orange and currants with the warming spices of cinnamon, ginger, allspice, rosemary, coriander, and angelica, the resulting juniper-led gin has a fruity and robust finish, fit for a king. It is recommended served with Fever-Tree tonic, ice, and a slice of orange.

Shepherd Neame holds Royal Warrants for its flagship Spitfire Amber Ale as well as Grants Morella Cherry Brandy. We wanted to mark the occasion with the launch of Devon Red Cider, which is created from British apples grown and pressed in Devon, using traditional methods, at the oldest working cider mill in the UK. The liquid is un-peated, floral, complex and created using the original Victorian machinery, paying homage to both past and present by bringing together traditional distilling methods ‘into a world of present significance’. Silent Pool’s 43% ABV Coronation Gin also uses dried plum and raspberry leaves to infuse the gin, leaving lingering fruity notes. Finally, Earl Grey tea and tangy hawthorn berries deepen the palette. It doesn’t get much more British than a Bank Holiday weekend enjoying a classic British dessert, unless, of course, that dessert comes in the form of a gin liqueur. The beer is said to have light caramel notes and a deep golden hue with east Kent Goldings hops adding a spiciness to the citrus and fruit aromas, rounded out with subtle bitterness from a generous hopping of Kentish Challenger. Shakespeare Distillery has launched a new Jubilee Gin to coincide with the celebrations around the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Theakston Brewery joint managing director Simon Theakston said: “As a brewery, we’re immensely proud of our almost 200-year heritage and it’s fascinating to consider that as a business we have been witness to nine monarchs and seven coronations.” To make it that extra bit special, the producer has also steeped some butterfly pea flowers into the gin to give it a blue hue, resulting in a ‘delicate and well-balanced’ gin. Shakespeare Distillery suggests serving the gin with either Fever-tree Elderflower Tonic or Fever-tree Light Indian tonic water and a slice of lemon.

Four Sis4ers Distillery in Salford has launched a limited-edition fruit-waste strawberry gin to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III. English wine producer Chapel Down has announced the release of a limited-edition English sparkling wine to commemorate the coronation with all profits being donated to the Royal British Legion. The 40% ABV gin takes inspiration from a summer garden, and the Stratford-Upon-Avon-based distiller has combined hibiscus, lemon verbena and thyme with the more traditional gin botanicals of juniper, coriander seed, orris root and lemon peel. Boasting a new recipe, crafted specifically to celebrate the historical occasion, Silent Pool’s Coronation Gin has been made using infusions of King Charles’ favourite Surrey botanicals, plants and flowers, with gentle notes of bergamot orange, complemented by elegant floral notes from rose petals, lavender and chamomile. To complement the ale, project executive chef Sang Nguyen has created three new limited-edition food dishes with a royal twist that will be available at selected Shepherd Neame pubs across the Coronation weekend.

Shakespeare Distillery has launched Coronation Gin to coincide with the crowning of King Charles III.

The beer continues the brewery’s tradition of creating limited edition ales to celebrate Royal occasions. It joins a distinguished lineage including Celebration Ale which marked Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee in 1977 and most recently, Royal Salute, which commemorated the Diamond and Platinum Jubilees in 2012 and 2022. With fresh citrus notes of grapefruit, crushed juniper and pink pepper on the nose, and a hit of jammy raspberry and fresh strawberry with a hint of vanilla on the palate, it’s easy to tell that the limited edition Platinum Jubilee gin by the Cotswold Distillery was inspired by classic British summer desserts.Four Sis4ers Distillery director Hayley Robinson said: “King Charles is passionate about the environment, and we are passionate about sustainability – so we thought it would be a great idea to use fruit food waste for this latest gin, to repurpose the strawberries into something special to mark such an iconic occasion. To mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012, the City of London unveiled a new still called Elizabeth after the late Queen. It is on this still that all Whitley Neill’s London Dry gins are made, including this special release. Shepherd Neame chief executive Jonathan Neame said: “We are delighted to mark this historic occasion, the Coronation of King Charles III, with a special beer. We hope that our customers will enjoy raising a glass to toast such a special occasion.”

Distilled at The City of London Distillery, the first and only gin distillery in the heart of London for more than 200 years, Whitley Neill Connoisseur’s Cut Gin is a classic London Dry expression that sits at 47% ABV, letting the rich juniper and citrus notes shine through. To mark this extraordinary milestone, The English Whisky Co released a single malt whisky to join its Royal range of whiskies, which are only bottled to mark such special occasions as royal births, marriages, coronations, and jubilees. As such, each collection is always limited edition and highly sought after – and this launch was no exception. Whitley Neill has given its Original London Dry Gin a Jubilee makeover to mark the long weekend celebrations.

Raising a glass to the highly anticipated coronation of King Charles III is Silent Pool, a brand that is no stranger to commemorative royal bottlings. Releasing an exclusive Coronation Gin ‘fit for a royal’, the limited edition blue and purple bottle is said to be the perfect tipple for enjoying at a street party. This English whisky was created using Plumage Archer barley grown on the Highgrove Estate in Gloucestershire, England, and was distilled, matured, and bottled exclusively by the Cotswolds Distillery. Distilled on the island of Islay, the whisky was produced for the sole purpose of occasion. The distillery filled cask number 2,504 in 1991, and now after watching both the Golden and Diamond Jubilees pass it by, VCL Vintners bottled the commemorative cask of Bruichladdich whisky at 44.1% ABV in April.
