Description

Overall, the Ordnance Survey's first edition 1 inch map series is special for its comprehensive survey of Great Britain, its high level of accuracy, its visually striking design, and its wide range of uses. Sage Page are also active members of the PCI Security Standards Council (SSC) that defines card industry global regulation. Map, mounted on cloth, is in very good condition; also bound in is a 36pp Foreword, Introduction and COmbined Index to North and South Sheets which is tanned with some spotting; card cover rather tanned with some marks and shelfwear. Any way to sum up its great but I do wonder why Ordnance Survey don't publish as a plain modern map without the historic layers, it would in my opinion be very useful addition to their fantastic range of maps. Fantastic reference material on Roman Britain -- fits well with the Oxford History of the Roman World.

There's a heap of history out there, not all of it easily discerned, so this map is an excellent way of deciding which way to go. I find the greyed out information still obtrusive, and the ancient site information is not as easilly visible as I might have liked. This depth of stretcher bar provides a more modern look and is not as easily framed at a later date.Symbols arranged according to the period (Palaeo/Mesolithic, Neolithic, Bronze, Iron, Roman, and Medieval to 1066) and use (civil, defence, domestic, industrial, religious/ritual, and funerary/burial) show locations of the sites. I attend U3A and we are exploring Roman Britain over the next 12 months with several visits to important sites. Key sites of significant historical interest are highlighted using photographs, text and thumbnail mapping from the OS Landranger map series. A must for people interested in Roman Britain who wants to go and look at the sites in real and it covers a lot of sites indeed. Whether its a canvas print, poster, framed print, note cards or digital downloads you will receive the careful attention to detail from our all artist staff.

What I have found is that I have spent a great deal of time studying this map and its fascinating historical information.Available in quantities of 5, 10 or 20 with the option of a kraft greeting card box for gift giving and storage. Low Resolution file size is approximately 1 MB, suitable for prints up to 8 x 10-inches and High Resolution file size is approximately 4MB, suitable for prints up to 11 x 14-inches. The map is pretty much what you expect of a UK touring map coloured to indicate heights (green - brown), but with the modern road information all changed to a light grey to make it less obtrusive. The historical map and guide is complemented by a timeline that shows British events in relation to wider world history. Many panels describing important archaeological remains are accompanied by extracts from OS Landranger maps at 1:50,000 showing their exact location.

Please also note that we are legally required to declare the correct value of your purchase which is used to calculate the tax and any tariff duty. Ancient monuments date from earliest times to about ad 100, and archaeological periods within this time span are distinguished by the use of different symbols and colours on the map. It's not a road map, it's a guide to ancient sites, but anyone with common sense and an AA guide (other road maps ARE available) can use the one to find the places on the other that are of interest.Discover some of Great Britain's most important ancient monuments and archaeological sites with Ordnance Survey's map of Ancient Britain. Secondly studying meteorology you often require a reference map with towns and cities but also coastline to understand some of the specifics of future weather phenomena. Yes you could fire up you're computer/tablet/phone and look it up or hunt through the overflowing maps drawer but I suspect this would take far longer. Each archaeological period is identified using different symbols and colours to show sites from the Stone Age through to the early Middle Ages against a modern map base, double-sided to cover the whole country. This map and guide shows the geographical distribution of some of the most important visible ancient monuments of Great Britain.

The map has been produced by Ordnance Survey in collaboration with the Ancient Monument Trusts of England, Scotland and Wales, so as to provide an authoritative map of the historical sights of Great Britain. You can be completely assured that nothing we pass to Sage Pay’s servers can be examined, used or modified by any third parties attempting to gain access to sensitive information. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 (formerly the Distance Selling Regulations) provide consumers with the right to a 'cooling-off' period to allow you to change your mind. It would probably be better suited to electronic publishing, where you could choose to switch on and off different information, to give you clearer views of what you were looking for.
