I believe that imperial measurements gives better proportions, look at a trad 9″x4″x3″ brick and period houses, compared to the horrible modern lego bricks and the houses made with them. While ripping wide boards, as the board passes over the slightly protruded screw head, one can feel the board drop as it board clears the screw.

The locking handle invariably changes the setting slightly once you tighten it, so the process is fiddly and needs to be repeated. If your saw never had one, or has a poor quality one, this fence will improve your band saw instantly. However much many of us may regret the passing of Imperial measurements, the fact is that we are now metric. When changing the blade it takes about 2 minutes longer that before but the way I have done it means it goes back exactly in the same position.There’s always just a little bit of “drift” that prevents you from getting precise cuts even when you are using a fence. A hardwood spacer pushes the rail away from the front of the bandsaw table so the fence can ride on it.

One thing I would worry about is if the magnets are strong enough to hold alignment while ripping a big heavy thick board; something I do a lot on the bandsaw.Accepts fence mounted accessories such as flip-up stop, T-track mounted utility light and featherboards.

But clamping to the underside of the bandsaw table isn’t easy because of the ribs down there, and setting the fence to make a straight cut requires loosening and resetting the clamps—sometimes it takes multiple tries. Adjustable in Two Dimensions This fence is unique in that it adjusts to set up perfectly square to your table and blade. Let the glue dry, then drill through the hinge block and into the runner to create a pilot hole for the threaded insert that will hold the pivot bolt. Some small modification work will be needed to adapt this to most machines, but this should not deter you from making this upgrade.Unfortunately, I could not use it, as it requires horizontal fence attachment tappings on the side of the saw. It's a really simple design, but it is stout and square, and has already helped me get some good re-saw cuts for a couple different projects. The adjustment bolts are indeed not conveniently located and the fence does need regular adjustments so I share the frustration… but it’s not as bad as adjusting the lower bearing guide assembly (I’m wondering what the engineers were thinking when they designed it as it’s not very rigid and has hard to access nuts and bolts which can move in too many directions).

i also wonder if you have an issue with the bearings below the table in that they cant be moved back behind the teeth gullets when using 1/2 blades and smaller . In the field, we woodworkers do a great deal by eye to avoid measuring, spacing screws, even dovetails, without layout or rulers. As always, I'm still a relative newcomer to woodworking - if anyone has any corrections or additional information, please share it in the comments.The scale is difficult to read and i am considering putting something black in the markings but not sure what to use yet as i don't want to ruin the scale. To maximize the pivoting action, the front of the fence needs to be spaced out from the end of the runner. With carbide blades being available for similar money to a standard blade these days, or soon enough if ya just can't speak Chinese, seems that there maybe a market for this sorta thing on this side of the pond soon. Rigid Design The aluminum fence is incredibly strong, straight, and built to last for years to come.
