By the time you get to Cirissi, you’re well invested in the story and understand the backstory behind Tarko and the Swathe, so their interactions don’t need to be interrupted by exposition.

This story is unlike any story I have read so far - I am new to fantasy so that may or may not effect my view point - but I did not for a moment want to put this book down. Well, this is another way that Tarkosi stands out, because his demon inspired magic requires no nectar like everyone else, so he’s a bit ostracized. Avatar: The Last Airbender meets Venom in this epic progression fantasy perfect for fans of Iron Prince, Cradle, and Kingfall.

For my second warband I might be able to stretch and kitbash some Spined demons to try out those rules too, but maybe having less rules to learn in game one, won’t be such a bad thing. I know Tarko was mad about being relegated to the role of "worker," but as a reader I was loving getting to learn about the jobs on the tree. Again, these were probably built by a pre-teen and I am just really grateful to have been gifted them.

The longer they are bound the more entwined they become, though, and personality traits are starting to pass back and forth.
