Flatliners isn't a terrible movie, in fact for most of its running time it is a pretty entertaining one that features some interesting production design and a strong soundtrack. Looking beyond the A-list headliners, there are three names in the supporting cast that deserve a quick mention. Full Moon brings together a six pack of B-movies produced by legendary schlockmeisters Eurocine in one handy boxed.

Read more about the condition New: An item that is still in its original shrink wrap from the manufacturer and the original manufacturer’s seal (if applicable) has not been removed. Although the end product arguably fails at completely pulling it off, credit should be given nonetheless to the filmmakers for at least trying to make a psychological horror flick actually be about something and explore some intriguing existential questions about this corporeal existence and our collective, deep-seated desire for something beyond.

Flatliners is one of those early 90s films with one foot still in the 80s, directed beautifully by the master of neon camp Joel Schumacher and starring the epitome of late80s/early 90s mega film stars triptic of Kiefer Sutherland, Kevin Bacon and Julia Roberts (along with Oliver Platt and William Baldwin). But Nelson’s experiment has caused Billy to cross over as well and he’s not making life easy for him. As these experiments continue they evolve in that those who are quite literally put to death are allowing themselves to stay dead for longer and longer periods of time before having their colleagues resuscitate them.

Dialogue exchanges are clear and discernible, and low end moments are frequent, although not altogether powerful.

Nelson is the god who made corporeal (to some degree) the internal trauma that none of the four allowed themselves to face for one reason or another. And eventually, it succumbs all too easily to a thematic cliche that all of the wrongs committed in life will ultimately come back to haunt us. As they discuss the Chicago shoot, scenes of the locations today are intercut with shots from the film.

Restoration (2022, 11 minutes) catches up with production designer Eugenio Zanetti and art director Larry Lundy as they share their inspirations from Greek myths. Visions of Light – Director of photography Jan de Bont (who went onto direct other 90’s films like Twister and Speed) is interviewed here along with chief lighting technician Edward Ayer. We also have interview shows which feature people from an eclectic mix of the entertainment industries. This doesn't necessarily diminish the plot but is able to offer up some truly horrific images and scenarios, mainly for Nelson and Rachel. With six brand-new featurettes, a new feature-length audio commentary, and a restoration overseen by cinematographer Jan de Bont, today might just be a great day to die.

seriously arguing with the fact that this release is superior to the Sony release in both technical merits and some very appealing supplements. The wider colour gamut is certainly the biggest plus, the reds and oranges looking especially good in the shadows, and those blue tinted scenes (thanks at times to awkwardly placed neon lights) have a wonderful intensity without blooming or coming off noisy. Joel Schumacher's thriller, starring Kiefer Sutherland and Julia Roberts as members of a group of medical students who embark on a series of dangerous experiments in an attempt to discover if there is life after death.William Baldwin ( Backdraft) objectifies women as the ever-horny Hurley, a man obsessed with making sex tapes without his fiancée. Roberts is the pretty smart girl, no stretch for her there, though there are some scenes where she rises above and creates some decent character here. Compression artifacts are never a problem, even in the film’s many darker scenes, and it’s really hard to complain about the way that the movie looks on this UHD. As the movie comes closer to its climax, however, it begins to feel more and more like all of this was created simply to offer up a gimmicky twist ending, one that is not only easy to see coming but which definitely caters to the lowest common denominator.
