Fearing for his life, Charley asks his friend, “Evil” Ed (Stephen Geoffreys), what he can do to protect himself from being attacked by a vampire. one when we are POV as Jerry coming off a roof as a bat and landing on the ground that had a lot of black crush in that scene (wind whipping yard bushes etc) - wondering if that got substantially improved w/ this new transfer.

Since Fright Night has been released several times on optical disc, it’s had a number of differing extras packages over the years, though this release is the most jam-packed of them all. This new UHD release comes housed in an attractive steelbook that replicates the film’s original artwork (yay! While it would be easy to site the cult appeal of Fright Night as to why it’s stuck around all these years, you could also say that it’s also aged well because of how seriously it treats its horror elements. The low-end remains a bit wanting and not particularly noteworthy, but it is adequate with enough weight to provide Brad Fiedel's original score with depth and presence.

This is symbolic of the fact that Jerry Dandridge will be the entryway for both Charley and Amy’s introductions to adult sexual life. Shot on a low budget and outgrossing it nearly three times over, the simple premise of a teenage boy who discovers that his next door neighbor is a vampire and enlists a down-on-his-luck former horror movie actor to help him was a surprise hit with audiences and horror fans alike when it was originally released in 1985. You’ll also get additional legacy extras, including: Roddy McDowall: From Apes to Bats, Tom Holland and Amanda Bearse Talk Fright Night, Round Table with Tom, Stephen, and William, Shock Till You Drop Presents Choice Cuts with Tom Holland and Ryan Turek, the First Ever Fright Night Reunion Panel at Fear Fest 2 (2008), the Weekend of Hell Panel with Amanda and Stephen, and a Vintage EPK with Behind-the-Scenes Raw Footage. With no future release dates being discussed and no studio coming forward to officially release the film due to the rights limbo it has been in since it was pulled out of theaters back in 1988, I am hoping to give this film the credibility and treatment it and its fans deserve.

Both are quite entertaining and informative, though the edge must be given to the first track due to Chris Sarandon’s involvement. After Jerry vampirizes her, Amy quite literally lets her hair down, adjusting her dress so that her décolletage is prominently on display, a move Winona Ryder also makes in the Coppola film. In fact, those films of yesteryear were heavily dependent upon those key features for generating frights, not just in-your-face brutality, bloodshed and a barrage of jump scares. I can remember, like many of the fans out there, watching this movie for the first time on cable TV when I was about 8 years old. Colours are rich and vibrant where necessary, while never looking artificial and there's a lot shadow detail.

We need to watch the film multiple times and make notes as to where the various sounds should be positioned, and then go through and try and isolate the elements to get a good mix. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. It’s one of the most iconic horror films from a decade packed to the gills with noteworthy genre fare. Think of the opening as the two kids necking at "Make-Out Point" and interrupted by the perfectly cued falling meteor or the alien invasion. International products have separate terms, are sold from abroad and may differ from local products, including fit, age ratings, and language of product, labeling or instructions.NEW A Novel Approach: The Splatterpunk of the Novelization (HD, 8 min) has Holland, John Skipp and Craig Spector reminiscing on the novel version of the script. In addition to movie reviews, Todd has written many articles for Home Theater Forum centering mostly on streaming as well as an occasional hardware review, and is a frequent guest on the Home Theater United podcast. At first, neither his girlfriend, Amy (Amanda Bearse), nor his best friend, Evil Ed (Stephen Geoffreys), believe him, nor local TV horror host, Peter Vincent (Roddy McDowall), to whom he appeals for advice and assistance. Holland's eye for style and composition remains highly impressive for a directorial debut, slowly showing Amy's submission to Jerry's seductions. On a Rumor Mill note, we’re also hearing from multiple industry and retail sources that Sony is working on a Columbia Classics 4K Ultra HD Collection: Volume 3 box set for release in time for the holidays that’s likely to include As Good as It Gets and From Here to Eternity, among other titles.
