So even though it was lovely to revisit my beloved characters, I can't help but feel that this book has no added value to the series. I adore Gabriel and his love for Julianne, even when I wanted to seriously hit him upside the head in ‘Inferno’… by redemption and promise… he is the most beautiful person.

Gabriel and Julia are learning to navigate life as new parents while still pursuing their academic and career goals. He and his beloved Julianne finally have a child of their very own and now he’s just been offered the highest honor of his academic career – to give the Sage Lectures at The University of Edinburgh. This is the fourth book in this utterly enchanting series – and I have just reread the first three in anticipation of further goodness.It was heartwarming to see how his character evolved from the self-centered man that was introduced in book one, to the selfless and caring hero obsessively committed to his family. While I did love this story it did seem to be a bit rushed with a few dangling pieces that could weave into another book, Scotland is always a new adventure. The story of their love is breathtaking and beautiful, now that they are married, we get to know more about them, they now have a baby girl named Clare. So when it was announced that “Gabriel’s Promise” would be published, my excitement went into overdrive. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

I have read and loved the rest of the series so I decided to go ahead and pick up my own copy since it's already out.A little bit of mystery and drama, grumpy professors, and a whole lot of dirty, sexy times had me turning each page. Especially, considering that some parts of the storyline were not even resolved by the end of this book.

This book does pick up where the third book leaves off and shows Gabriel and Julia adjusting to parenthood, their careers and of course, an unknown danger which lies just around the corner. Not wanting to put her PhD dissertation on hold, Julianne will struggle with the future of her studies when her husband is offered/wins a prestigious position overseas in Edinburgh, Scotland. Even in book four as a married couple their love is evident, there is a lot that Gabriel has to take care of and like always he continues to be in control. I had an arc of this back in October but sadly time was not on my side and didn't have time to read it till now.
