It digs deep into scripture revealing connections, consistencies and truths in the Bible that are so easily overlooked. There had been times when I truly believed that I was trusting in God with all my heart but I always seemed to make a mess of things.

I’m not sure what this says about the way my brain works, but the systematic process of verse mapping really appeals to me. It stimulates our curiosity when someone shares what they have been learning and encourages us to make a go of it ourselves.

It was a true gift when the Holy Spirit led me to verse mapping and I began to break away from topical studies and focus on line-by-line studies. I cannot recommend the NIV translation highly enough for individual reading, group study or preaching. I will encourage them to take one book at a time and work their way through the book, regardless of how long it takes (a month, 6 months, a year, 2 years) to complete. We should be able to sum-up what the Holy Spirit has taught us into one or two lines of teaching that we can immediately apply to our life. I began to feel convicted of telling them whatever they wanted to do was fine because there wasn’t a wrong way to verse map.As you practice this type of study it will become easier and you will gain confidence for your next study.
