About this deal

It’s quite interesting to see forum members names who no longer use this forum. When it was in its prime the forum had more information than most could use 🤣.

Salmon Fishing Forum River Wye 2023 | Salmon Fishing Forum

was a good summer for grilse on Lewis and Harris. Good water when the fish arrived, and a good run of grilse from the end of May until in to August. I have never been one for just reading a report on the internet, jumping in the car and heading to somewhere to try and catch a fish. For me it’s putting all the pieces in place and then when the take occurs I know I can say that I have mastered the art. No doubt there is a multitude of factors... predators, forestation, road run off, pollution and over fishing at sea and dont get me started on 'Fish Farms"... the list goes on and on! A new thread for all news, views, catches, reports in 2023 for the wonderful Ribble, Hodder and many tributaries. Shore angling - everything welcome! The opinions expressed here are those of the private individuals and we accept no responsibility or liability.I was asked a couple of unexpected questions this week by a work colleague which I thought were worth sharing. I didn't fish again in North Uist, but we did have a great time before heading down to Benbecula, no fishing here either, but some great Seafood and some of the best sandcastles ever built. We are having problems in Scotland too and not just the West Coast. Members on here who fish the Northie and Southie are barely seeing a fish far less catch one. The Dee is trashed, the Tay poor, the Earn empty, the Teith in a bad way. When I was writing my reply above, I was actually thinking that more fish than that were lifted from the Bann at the Cutts when it was in operation. This forum is for general discussion related to Angling. Areas covered would include Media Reports, Conservation Issues and the promotion of the sport.

The art of effectively & effortlessly 'turning over' a salmon fly is 100% to do with energy transfer to the fly after the forward delivery power stroke of the cast has been applied. In other words a very light or limp leader will struggle to make that energy transfer effective all the way to a salmon fly if the leader has not been selected with the bulk and weight of the salmon fly being used. Salmon Leader Length & Breaking Strain The Towey was probably rated as the absolute go to destination for Sea Trout and again the reports couldn't even begin to cover all the fish caught.Love the comment above about the Lune and not wishing to swap it for Terra Del Fuego perhaps as I feel exactly the same way about my beloved Dwyfor and the nice folk who live down there? (Given how beautiful the area is, why wouldn’t you end up as being anything other than nice lol) Shane O'Reilly of Inland Fisheries Ireland with Irish Fly-tier Peter Kealey at the launch of the publication of the 1902 Cork Fly Collection
