Voices mostly sound rounded and beautifully integrated into their newly expanded audio surroundings. Aside from a digital download code, there's an introduction (which we believe is from the 2007 Blu-ray) and three commentaries. Especially as Ridley Scott claims in a short introductory video that he personally supervised the creation of the 4K HDR master.

Blade Runner' finally sounds spatially alive and vibrant, with surrounds that now live and breathe -- just as it should be. This long-anticipated follow-up to Ridley Scott's 1982 cult classic struggled to connect with viewers . Documentary: "Dangerous Days" (SD, 211 minutes) - This insanely comprehensive making-of by longtime Scott documentarian Charles de Lauzirika runs not only longer than the feature film itself, but at over three hours it hogs the entire second disc. It’s also been nearly five years since I last watched my favourite movie, and hopefully I’ll have lost enough familiarity with it to stay glued to the screen for the duration. The Final Cut' finally corrects all of the messed-up details and other imperfections that have so bothered Scott (and many fans) over the years. That said, Blade Runner does look superb, and with the greater colour definition and clarity of the transfer, I was seeing detail I had never seen before, appreciating the film’s imagery, the costume and production design at a whole new level. As long as the next release offers up a significant discernible upgrade in picture and audio quality, my hard-earned cash will be spent. Ridley Scott's Blade Runner is such an important piece of film history, that it almost speaks for itself whenever being mentioned. the cuckoo sound actually seems to be coming not just from the left side of your room, but from above left - exactly the off-screen position Pris turns to look at.

This is backed up to some extent by the fact that the ‘fizziest’ scenes tend to be those in fairly dark interior settings.Of course, this version of the film was taken from weak elements, so the often fuzzy picture, weak blacks and pale colors are to be expected. First time viewers of the film will be treated to one of the great science fiction epics of film history and will get to enjoy seeing the film progress in its various edits over the years. Warner provides three versions of the film on disc three -- the 1982 domestic and International cuts, and the 1992 Director's Cut. Despite having Harrison Ford in the lead role, his Deckard is subdued and unsympathetic, a cynical character who lives a lonely existence.

But the lossless audio does enrich the experience transcendentally in comparison to the DD Surround of the DVD. I'll leave it up to the viewer to decide which version of the film is the best, but they all have something to offer. As such, the video quality boasts the same wonderful colors, jaw-dropping depth and excellent black levels. This new restoration corrects the overly reddish tint from the previous DVDs, and the subtle and striking blue-green casts are now far more apparent. I'm aching inside because I just can't do this review justice with images captured from the now ancient VC-1 Blu-ray of 2007.

I never liked this movie so much, but since the expert critics say is that good then it is that good, like it or not is something else. Consumer Products by Snow Commerce, which is soley responsible for the site's content and all aspects of your purchase. Vangelis' legendary score is at last fully immersive, with select instruments often directed to specific channels instead of the whole thing sounding like sonic mush emanating only from the fronts. Divided into three sections ("Inception," "Fabrication" and "Longevity"), fans will find plenty to revel in here. Featurette: "All Our Variant Futures: From Workprint to Final Cuts" (SD, 30 minutes) - As cool as it is to finally see the workprint, I must say I think I enjoyed this featurette even more.

As these versions are accessible via seamless branching they share much of the same material, and appear to utilize a master identical to 'The Final Cut. Every aspect of the film's production is well covered here with a huge number of commentaries, documentaries and featurettes. This is despite the fact that the film’s dramatic neon lighting and many artificial light sources have been given a huge boost in saturation and brightness. Edition' comes with the cool briefcase package, but the 'Complete Collector's Edition' is considerably cheaper, and is a five-star release in its own right. Whether or not these added features are worth the extra thirty bucks or so for the 'Ultimate Edition' comes down to personal preference.Blade Runner on this Blu-ray is hardly the same, but it’s just that much better than the DVD to make double-dipping essential, not just optional. If you want to know my thoughts about the film, I’ll point you in the direction of my review for the tin boxset, and I’ll just concentrate on the Blu-ray here. As you’d hope with such a definitive anniversary release, the extra features are extensive and, for the most part, brilliant. Setting a new standard for Blu-ray releases and supplemental material, Blade Runner seems to have just about every conceivable extra imaginable in this set. It helps that 'Blade Runner' was such a controversial undertaking, which results in plenty of juicy stories.
