The plot. It had so much potential, yet was completely downgraded. I'm just so surprised at how the author managed to capture my full attention at the beginning (seriously, if I had to rate the beginning only, I would give it 5 stars.) Starting off with Alessandra killing Hektor and seeing her take no from her Father, telling him what she will do, was amazing. The problem is how little develops after that. As I mentioned before, Alessandra becomes a softie, and she never actually attempts to kill Kallias. She just thinks about it, over and over again, telling herself her plan may not work because "this is getting in the way" and Read more to know the answers to some frequently asked questions about the Shadows Between Us as well as a glimpse of some of the characters. Why? Because it was such a long time since I enjoyed "YA"/fantasy book so much as I did enjoy this one. There were several side plots which kept the story moving, so, I never really felt like nothing was happening.

Did I enjoy this book? Immensely. I swallowed it up whole. TSBU is just what I needed at the moment—a fun romance that resonated with me and made laugh so hard and so often. I don’t want to hate on this, I don’t like to hate on things in general, but I must signal some not-so-pleasant aspects about it. I want to put into words what I felt after giving The Shadows Between Us a shot. One day, she kills a wolf who happens to be a fairy. Although she doesn’t know it at the time, she suspects it, but she doesn’t know it by killing this fairy. She ends up breaking a treaty between the mortal and the fake realms. So, a fairy comes to take her away for a living thing, and the story goes on from there. The Shadows Between Us is a refreshing fun and funny gem, providing our usual light YA read with a breath of fresh air away from the perfect, honourable, goody-two-shoes who seem to have taken over literature for decades and centuries. No wonder it spoke to me on so many impossible levels, as I happen to be part of a triad of Houses ( Slytherfinclaw, each House at about 30%). I also remember what finally helped my head catch up with my pounding heart: the last word out of Hektor’s lips.

overall, this is such a fun and engaging novel with a lot of great highlights. its definitely turned me on to TL as an author and i want to read more of her stories ASAP! Two men are run through with swords. Another stabbed who dies of his wounds. Magical healing after bullet to the chest and poisoning. Boxing matches with bloody injuries. A broken nose. Mentions of hangings, a stabbing death, insurgents rounded up and killed. Many mentions of a man stabbed and buried in secret, and assassinated monarchs. This is the first book in a new fantasy series, and this particular book is a Beauty and the Beast retelling. However, the other books in the series will be retellings of different stories. Like The Shadows Between Us, this book takes place in a world where fairies and humans coexist. Although not friendly, there is a wall separating their two worlds, and on the human side of the wall, there is Feyre. She’s our main character, and she takes care of her father and two older sisters by hunting for games and stuff in the woods.

This book follows a girl named Theodosia, the heir to the throne of a conquered kingdom. The Kaiser conquered her kingdom and killed the rest of her family. They killed many of her people but chose to keep her alive to use her against her people. If her people try to rebel or have riots, they publicly whip her. When we first meet our main character, she’s a very broken individual. She has had her own identity essentially beaten out of her. In addition, she’s extremely submissive to the Kaiser because she wants to avoid punishment. Some topics featured in this book that you want to be mindful of are death and murder as well as alcohol consumption. However, there is a gay side character who is very funny and will become your favorite side character, I’m sure. Is this novel enemies to lovers?Kallias confesses his love by reading a letter he wrote to her. Alessandra tells him why she loves her and how she found her match and her equal. They kiss and start their new life together. But my heart is bigger, Alessandra. And I would love you completely, wholly, as a woman ought to be loved. I won’t hide behind shadows. I won’t love you from afar. I won’t only take parts of you. I want all of you. Mind, body, soul. I want to be with you. Always.” No one knows the extent of the freshly crowned Shadow King’s power. Some say he can command the shadows that swirl around him to do his bidding. Others say they speak to him, whispering the thoughts of his enemies. Regardless, Alessandra knows what she deserves, and she’s going to do everything within her power to get it. Other characters like daring Rhoda and sweet Hestia who’s simply afraid to be herself in fear of rejection and thus imitates successful individual in all aspects, as well as Leandros who is...charming and tragic and whatnot, all make this an enjoyable, unputdownable read that I devoured in less than a day. All these books offer dark romances, political intrigue, and characters who face treacherous waters, making them excellent choices for fans of “The Shadows Between Us.” Each of them, in their unique way, delves deep into themes of power, love, betrayal, and resilience.

She is described as an overall proper daughter. She already tried to catch the eye of the king but was sent home from the palace. that Alessandra would fall in love immediately and forget all her plans to kill Kallias, or that she wouldn't be the merciless, manipulative genius the synopsis promised. a female MC who is ruthless, as well as kind. usually its one or the other in YA, so its refreshing to see a character so complex. So thank you, Tricia, for giving the big eff you to the more popular theme of changing morally grey characters to white flags of peace and generosity. Yes, the Shadows Between Us has fantasy elements, though they are not in-your-face present. Thus, if you aren’t a huge fan of fantasy, this story might just get you into the genre. Is there romance in The Shadows Between Us?

Eventually I realized that the author was going for the falling-in-love opposed to falling-in-the-grave angle which was alright...but it was disappointing. A man claiming to be the estranged grandson of Chrysantha’s lecherous late husband has turned up to steal her inheritance. To make matters worse, her little sister is going to be queen and is rubbing it in her face. By hiding her intelligence and ambition behind the mask of a beautiful air-headed girl, she has become a wealthy duchess. And, once her elderly husband dies, she will have all the freedom, money, and safety she’s ever wanted.
