It should come as no surprise that Kensington, a company known for making trackballs, would design what I see as the platonic ideal of the form. We offer a two week trial period on the majority of products (exclusions do apply ie Software, Headsets etc) which starts from the day you receive your item(s). The Kensington Expert Mouse is my favorite trackball, and I would recommend especially professional and heavy users to get this one.

I thought (and still kind of think) that I got a defective unit, but apparently this is widespread amongst just about every unit.

If you are in one of those groups, a trackball could make sense for day-to-day computing to keep repetitive strain injury in check, but it isn't suitable for high-performance tasks.

However, once I received it and set it up, I noticed that the scroll wheel was incredibly loud and rough.Kensington actually publicly announced they would not support Win8 because (it was too hard to code for), until they had to cave into consumer pressure.

Though Kensington's software toolkit is less flashy than Logitech Options, the program that accompanies the finest Logitech productivity gear, KensingtonWorks adds a ton of functionality that allows you to personalize your trackball and reach the level of comfort you should expect from any kind of ergonomic device. To help the connection of your appliance go smoothly, please watch our dishwasher or washing machine connection video. The chances are you are spending a vast amount of time at work and at home using a computer for tasking and recreation. The four large buttons can be programmed to do exactly you want, all making for a simple and effective workflow with minimal movement from your hand and arm.

Adjusting the cursor sensitivity so the cursor moves the amount you feel it should as you roll the ball is essential to the experience. I don’t remember it being this loud from my audio days, but that was 5 years ago and I’ve slept since then, so I probably forgot about it.

These products are separated into the correct waste flow at our local depots and send directly to government approved WEEE recycling plants. I would find it very hard to give up the comfort and accuracy of the Expert for another finger-operated trackball. I’d prefer a red ball, the grey one makes the whole thing look a bit industrial and unfriendly, but then I like red balls too.The materials feel good, although a bit cheaper than the nice materials of the Logitech Cordless Trackman trackball or the Kensington SlimBlade. You may have read or seen his tech and gaming coverage at IGN, Lifehacker, Gizmodo, Variety, Digital Trends, and, of course, PCMag. Automatic shutdown:Yes as real users, posing a threat to a site’s security, so the site sometimes runs random security checks. The largest ball of all the current trackballs (together with the Kensington SlimBlade which has the same ball, but in red) is surrounded by a black rubber scrollwheel and four large buttons.
