Description

I was brought up on suet puddings. My grandmother used to make great steak & kidney suet puddings in her saucepan, with the pudding basin wrapped in muslin and string bubbling away for hours on her stove top. I’ll type up the ingredients for the recipes and the contents of the book in the coming weeks – this book has a special Christmas Fare section in the middle – an extra insert printed in full colour and giving Christmas Atora Suet Recipes! Atora is the main UK brand for suet – but any supermarket brand of suet is just as good, so don’t think this is the only name that works.

Now mix it all up – you can do this by spooning it around, or by fixing the lid on (securely) and giving it all a good shake. To make dumplings, all you need to do each time is grab that box, open it and give the contents a good stir (to ensure they’re still mixed well) and spoon out as much as you need (by eye) for the number of dumplings you want to make! Then add water slowly to bring it into a dough. Just drop your dumplings into the top of your stew 20 minutes before the end! Reuse empty yoghurt pots to make hanging feeders. Make a small hole in the bottom of each pot and thread some string or twine through the hole in the bottom and out through the top of the pot, leaving it long enough to tie the feeder to a branch. The booklet is divided into nine separate sections and gives recipes for four servings in the following categories:You can use it in the same way as beef fat, and it can also be substituted for any recipe. It does not have a lot of flavors but has a high smoke point so it is especially good for deep frying and making dough. 4. Vegetable suet

Once the fat balls are solid, put in the garden, on a bird feeder or in a fat-ball feeder. Other ways to feed birds Empty yoghurt pots Sunflower oil can also be used when frying as a substitute for suet. However, it should not be used when making doughs or baked goods as it will ruin the texture of the dish completely.Coconut oil can technically be substituted for suet because it also has a high smoke point and can substitute any fat. Beef fat also has a high smoke point and when used in pastry crusts it yields a light, flaky pastry, perfect for any pie filling, sweet or savory.
