About this deal

The cups are dense, and the headband frame is made of metal, which gives the headphones a solid enough build quality that a few accidental drops and bumps won't be an issue.

The Amplifier/DACs used in this review were the SPL Phonitor XE (with built-in DAC), Grace Design SDAC + Topping A90, and the JDS Labs Element II connected via USB to my desktop computer. However, sibilants like S and T sounds are bright but not piercing like the sharper-sounding Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO. I actually had all three sets in my posession for a while before I sent them on to him and did try them out briefly (about a year ago) but didn’t really do any in depth listening or comparisons at the time, so he has kindly sent them my way again to dive a little deeper. Embracing the latest, and greatest developments in German engineering and technology, the DT 1770 Pros are so soft you'll forget they're on your head.At the end of the day though, it’s not like by using them your mixes and productions will be three times better than if you’d opt for DT 770 Pros but it’s likely that you’ll enjoy the process more and will make a more accurate judgment on the low-end of your work. The DT1770PRO comes delivered in a great new style portable semi hard protective case, which holds the extra pair of leatherette pads and both of the straight and coiled cables. The headband perhaps is straight away the most noticeable departure and now it’s especially thick and covered in gentle leatherette.

This feature allows for high fidelity sound reproduction, ensuring you experience your audio just the way it was intended. Thanks to their soft, replaceable ear pads and adjustable headband, these headphones can be worn for extended periods without causing discomfort.Beyerdynamic describes the circumaural (over ear) DT1770PRO as a closed studio reference headphones for mixing, mastering, monitoring and recording and it is the evolution of a studio legend. However, they do a decent job of blocking out background conversations and higher-pitched sounds like A/C units.

The Amplifier/DACs used in this review were the SPL Phonitor XE (with built-in DAC), Grace Design SDAC + Topping A90 , and the JDS Labs Element II connected via USB to my desktop computer. There are plenty of photos of the product and details all over the packaging but the interesting part is inside.Neumann NDH 20 have issues with adaptiveness hurting their accuracy and Shure SRH1540 has a relatively high 3rd harmonic distortion in the bass range. Now, I sincerely have no pro-audio experience, so for this review I’ll only be sharing how the DT 1770 Pro performed in my listening experience, which was for personal enjoyment. It can be very pleasant to work with these headphones until you hear your track on a different playback system where it all of a sudden lacks high frequencies and sounds harsh in the high-mids. They are quite heavily colored though, so if your setup doesn’t allow to run calibration, Shure SRH1540s are a better option where neutral sound is required.
