About this deal

For a very light roast that I find hard to extract without sourness, I like to position the cylinder in the silicone pre-heating cap and fill it twice with water off the boil, letting it rest at least 30 seconds each time.

I love the fact that it is completely mechanical, well built - that means it is simple and should last for a long time. I pulled shots of Espresso with Flair alongside my La Pavoni Europiccola, and The Rok, using the same coffee. This type of machine is for the espresso traditionalist who wants to pull smooth, rich shots without the reliability of electricity. I put an asterisk there because it is lowering the cost barrier to espresso on the machine side, but does still require a good grinder. There are a fair number of components to where it can be a touch intimidating unboxing and setting up for the first time, but once you do it it’s pretty straight forward, quick and simple to setup.Like the original Flair, the PRO can consistently brew fine-tuned espresso at a variety of roast levels.

I did my tests using a Versalab M4 and a Feldgrind, both very high quality grinders that produce very consistent grinds. The other big difference as compared to something like an Aeropress, is that you’re making actual, true espresso. Update: Todd also pointed out to me that you can just push the plunger past the o-rings and I can confirm that works. Whenever we've been to Ikea I usually remember a really important task I have to do, to get me out of the house while my wife puts the stuff together ;-), I'm useless at stuff like that. Once the goods have been received back and checked, as per our terms and conditions, we will issue a full refund or exchange on receipt.

Furthermore, if I did I'd probably get a low end machine and maybe not get to such a high quality drink that I would really enjoy. I hope that maybe some of you uses the same grinder as me and has some tips for the settings for espresso? It is therefore definitely worth the investment in my opinion, even after a (more costly) upgrade process.
