About this deal

Because riders can lose their horses and get replaced by foot models, you will want to keep six of your foot models to use for this.

These rules don't have everything in them, but instead focus on what's relevant to the Battlehosts themselves (a subset of the magical powers, no specialized heroic actions, a subset of the war gear, and a very short list of special rules). For the Mordor supplement, the designers have done new players a favor and given the Witch-King 3M/15W/3F, placed him on a horse, and given you the option to take the Crown of Morgul, a Morgul Blade, and the Flail for free. Not only would this lower the points level some, but the strength of your heroes would be dropped, forcing the Isengard player to work on using his Uruks to stall out the big heroes.Alliances (5) Angmar (55) Apologetic (3) Armies of Middle Earth (5) Armies of Middle Earth SBG (39) Army of the Dead (6) Army of Thror (4) Army Showcase (2) Arnor (22) Azog's Hunters (15) Azog's Legion (10) Banners (2) Barad-Dur (15) Bare Necessities (48) Battle Companies (7) Battle Reports (117) Battlehosts (4) Beastmen (1) Beornings (4) Brawler Bash (3) Bretonnia (2) Camels (2) Cavalry (22) Chariots (2) Christmas (10) Corsairs (14) Dale (7) Dark Denizens of Mirkwood (6) Defence of the North (7) Dol-Guldur (16) Druadan (1) Dunharrow (9) Dunland (5) Dwarves (88) Eagles (4) Easterlings (39) Erebor Reclaimed (28) Errata (4) Ettenmoors (1) Fall of the Necromancer (5) Fangorn (5) Fantasy Fellowships (42) Far Harad (6) Fellowship (59) Fiefdoms (6) First Impressions (1) Fleshing Out the Faction (3) Fly you fools!

I did want to give a shout-out to the MESBG team for what they did with the Witch-King, though - I know when I got started playing the game, figuring out how to kit out a Nazgul was HARD. He retained Sorcerous Blast, which is probably the ONLY way he's going to come close to recouping his cost (though since he costs almost as much as the whole battlehost for Rohan and Mordor, how important/possible is that?Fortunately, Dunlending Horsemen and Huscarls - both eye wateringly expensive if purchased in multiples – can be easily proxied by third party miniatures. It's worth noting that you’ve got a whole load of Scouts from your Battlehost untouched here, as well as some spare Dunland and Uruk heroes – so you could easily pad this list to 800pts or beyond. Suddenly any cavalry model looks really good (even if all the cavalry in these Battlehost are only F3). You’re getting two character packs and a command pack, so it isn’t very spendy, but it does give you a solid and fast infantry force (everything moves 8” and you have a drummer as well). As the list probably shines most around the 500-600pts mark, and as the second set of Scouts isn’t needed to Ugluk’s scouts, you’d have to really want to play this list at higher points values to justify this purchase, so I wouldn’t recommend it immediately.

This battleforce contains 48 plastic Citadel miniatures for use in games of Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game and is an ideal way for existing players to bolster their forces, or for new collectors to get into the game. Mordor have one of the biggest model ranges in Lord of the Rings, and it naturally pairs with the new starter set to give you more than 700 points, needing only some characters to give a legal army.

There is probably an argument for another banner in here, if you can find one or don’t mind shelling out for a second pack of Scout Commanders. It’s good for getting toys on the table quickly, or if you and a friend both bought a battlehost together and want to play with those exclusively - but I’d strongly recommend moving on to your next purchases. I think the idea was to find the lowest-common-denominator spells and avoid too many unique ones, so I can see it (but don't agree with it). THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY, THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG, THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES and the names of the characters, items, events and places therein are trademarks of The Saul Zaentz Company d/b/a Middle-earth Enterprises under license to New Line Productions, Inc. Why you’d like it: Tons of shooting, big siege weapons with Legion bonuses, and hordes of generic infantry and captains.

For these types of items we have to use a courier service and in this case the cost will vary depending on size and weight etc.Yep, I think these guys are almost at the bottom of the list, but a bit better than Rohan because the Witch-King has enough Will to keep Eomer from doing anything. It’s ticking similar boxes to the 650pts list, but with the addition of some named heroes and some cavalry threat. In tournament play very often a pure cavalry force is used, but if you aren’t going to tournaments don’t let that bother you at all.
