Smurfette says that being good is being kind to all living creatures great and small, while Hefty says that being good is keeping fit and taking care of your health. Papa Smurf then has Scaredy climb a tree to get a fresh acorn, which he bravely does with Brenda watching and Smurfette telling her Papa Smurf's trying to teach Scaredy something for his own good.

Then Smurfette comes by and scolds the young witch for changing one of Mother Nature's creations into a frog. His dead relative Great-Uncle Sempronio made this the only stipulation to his will and if completed Alfonso would be entitled to his whole fortune. On top of this, the picture-book is unnecessarily long and too wordy — takes away half of the magic.

As she moves through the community offering assistance to the other witches, her small size keeps sabotaging her efforts. The larger illustration of the spider weaving a web on her hat shows how highly skilled she can be with a pencil. Some of the adornments surrounding the text pages feel like they could have been drawn by a child and it's totally charming.I'm so happy I gave it a chance, because not only did I find it superior (from a story-telling perspective) to the other two, but I also rediscovered a long-forgotten favorite from my youth!

Wilma the witch is so excited to participate in the broom flying demonstration for the Halloween Bash this year. From the New York Times bestselling author who brought us The Littlest Elf comes a sweet new Halloween story filled with gentle spooky fun and one adorable little witch friend! However, it ends up turning the bird into a butterfly, making her realize that it wasn't evil enough. Even though they weren't able to help with the Halloween Bash this year, they can still go together and have fun. Upon reaching the village, Brainy tells Smurfette that Papa Smurf already has enough trouble teaching him how to be a wizard, and also adds that witches are ignorant creatures who could never truly know how to be good. Hefty suggests that she can try being good instead, but again Brenda doesn't know what being "good" means.

One of the students, Brenda, answers oatmeal, which makes other young witches laugh but simply has Miss Snarly tell her she's wrong.Adrienne Adams, one of my favorite Halloween illustrators, does a wonderful job with the illustrations.
