The arrival of Jasmine, a new girl at school who immediately befriends Violet, seems like it might change Violet's life for the better and allow her to break free of Will's spell. Will and Violet start playing 'Truth and Dare' and Will asks Violet that if she could have a love affair with any one, who would it be, so Violet said Casper Dream.

I don't know why, but out of all of the Jacqueline Wilson books this one is the one I remember the experience of reading being the most vivid.I'm English, and they were my primary reading material outside of 'Harry Potter' and other fantasy books. Jacqueline Wilson's magical talent for writing novels for children of all ages that can brighten, sadden and enlighten all at the same time is legendary. I didn't like how Violet's brother is so mean to her, even though he changes at the end of the story. After Will forces her to play a game of 'Blind Man Buff' which she hates, she still played it - because when Will found out he was adopted spent all his time in his room and rarely even talked, let alone play with Violet, she was desperate to rebuild their relationship - and was attacked by bats. Jacqueline Wilson has written literally dozens of books, and if you aren't already a fan you very soon will be.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. In it was so much interesting content about Midnight by Jacqueline Wilson and I thought sharing this would make a unique post. Violet’s life changes when the new girl in the school, Jasmine, who cares two hoots about fitting in, takes a shine to her. Jacqueline Wilson gives us a slight taste of each, a delicious whiff that keeps readers attentive and held captive throughout the whole ride. Wilson’s characters are normally full of life but Violet is flat, and quite honestly, I don’t like her.And as a further test to see if they've held up, I'll be reading a few of her more recent books as an adult. Midnight centers around Violet, who is, according to Jacqueline, "One of [her] favorites out of [her] imaginary girls".

Violet has few friends and loves to wear her older brother Will’s hand downs, she makes fairies that are from the book Casper Dream. At least in my opinion Midnight should be marked as a young-adult one, as it is rather dark, eerie and even spooky at times (or all the time in between the lines).

e. at one point characters, aged 13-15, share a bottle of wine and The World Does Not End), as is the fact that while the book takes an optimistic tack, it doesn't necessarily promise that Everything Will Be Just Fine, Always. Violet retreats into fantasies based on the fairy characters created by her favourite author, Caspar Dream. The Parents aren’t around much so I can’t really comment on their characters except they seem to be naive of Will’s behaviour to his sister and are also victims of his behaviour too.

The arrival of a new girl at school, Jasmine, seems like it might change Violet’s life for the better. The ending of Midnight felt rushed and we weren’t left with delicious ambiguity but it’s still far from being fairytalish. Balances the magical world of the imagination with the harsher realities of growing up in modern Britain. After smashing up her fairies (and scratching Will with her Crow Fairy in the process), Violet runs away with some money, with Casper Dream's old house as her destination in mind. A magical and atmospheric novel from the award winning children's author featuring Violet, who has always been under the mesmerising, controlling influence of her brother Will, but now Will has learned a shocking secret of his past and things seem to be getting worse. It feels so realistic - the simple hurts that mean so much are so beautifully weaved in, complete with layers of complexity. Violet - The 13-year-old protagonist of Midnight, described as having long, thick black hair and blue eyes.
