The third way to make rosé is by simply blending a tiny amount of red wine in with a white, giving it a brilliant bubblegum-type pink hue. This isn’t generally permitted with European wines, but the technique is used to create many rosé champagnes. What should you look out for when buying rosé? Refreshingly English rosé crafted in the Kentish countryside, Folc is fast becoming as admired as its Provencal neighbours. A refreshing sip with notes of cranberry, grapefruit, and ripe peach it is inspired by the natural rhythms of the seasons. Grapes are grown on the finest family-run vineyard this side of the Channel before being bottled under the expert eyes of Folc’s winemakers in Canterbury. From grape to glass it is a wine that rejoices the wonders of the garden of England and is a delightful choice for an English wedding. For those of you into Phonaesthetics, the compound noun cellar doorhas been widely cited as an example of a word or phrase that is beautiful purely in terms of its sound (i.e., euphony) without inherent regard for itsmeaning. Something that proprietor William Chase learnt at school and never forgot. The wine has an enticing nose which exudes stone fruit and citrus fruit aromas. An enveloping silky texture on the palate is balanced with refreshing acidity and bone-dry flavours of peaches and grapefruits. The long lingering finish means the wine is perfectly matched with a warm goat’s cheese salad, grilled seafood or savoured on its own. A delicate rosé with aromas of stone fruit and citrus Selladore’s rosé is a faultless example of a classic Provencal rosé. With a wonderfully smooth texture, it has a perfectly balanced acidity that pairs particularly well with seasonal summer greens, seafood, and lemon-infused dishes as well as creamy desserts, soft cheeses, and even wedding cake! One of the finest examples of a quintessential this is one of the finest rosé wines to consider for your wedding. Provençal rosé wines by their very nature should be easy drinking, but that’s not to say they should be devoid of length. Best served chilled, (ideally al fresco), enjoy as an apértif or as an accompaniment to a range of foods. We’d recommend Provençal classics, such as ratatouille, bouillabaisse and salad nicoise, as well as tapas, charcuterie, pasta and grilled seafood.

Our WSET-trained expert wine panel called in the big brands that dominate the market — think Mirabeau, Minuty and Miraval — as well as some smaller under-the-radar gems to showcase at your next dinner party. Providing detailed tasting notes, they assessed each for complexity, balance and finesse. Selladore En Provence Rose is bottled as a Coteaux Varois En Provence Appellation D’Origine Protegee (AOP). The Coteaux Varois surrounds the city of Bignoles and encompasses 28 communes. The soils here aregenerally clayey – limestone soils rich in flint stones and the vineyards benefit from a special microclimate due to their high altitude (the vineyards are located at an average of 350m above sea level). Chase’s vineyard’s at Domaine St Jean de Villacroze, which they have owned since 2015, are now spread over 27 hectares of vineyards across theprestigious appellations of the Coteaux Varois en Provence and the Côtes de Provence.

Most will be a blend of grenache, syrah and cinsault, and the finest examples will be well-structured, bone-dry, crisp and refreshing.
