MacKintosh weet goede verhalen uit te brengen en ook met Het leugenspel heeft ze weer een goed verhaal op de markt gebracht, hoewel ik het 1e deel denk ik toch nog net wat beter vond. Wanneer er vervolgens een moord wordt gepleegd, zijn er veel verdachten en net zoveel alibi’s… maar wie vertelt de waarheid? I loved the idea of the reality TV show and it was so reminiscent of what we see on our channels these days. De vermissing was in mijn ogen eerder een bijzaak en mijn interesse lag dus meer bij het moordmysterie. The first book in the series was ok in as much as I wanted to read to the end but only because I was mildly intrigued to see what would happen. His psyche couldn’t take the turn the producer decided on and he’s off into the mountains, a danger to himself and others. There's some great world building/family secrets/personal details in TLP, and AGOL expands on those a bit.If one contestant guesses right the others secrets they are eliminated, the aim of the game is to make sure one person does not their ‘secret revealed’. After the first episode is broadcast and the nature of the show disclosed to the participants, one contestant goes missing. Each contestant has their own motives for getting involved with the show, mainly the money, fame or more and at what cost when they find out the potential dread that follows that their biggest secret may be about to be revealed. The second Ffion and Leo crime novel, with the action taking place during filming of a very plausible reality tv show.

A Game of Lies is book two in the DC Morgan series and it was so good being back in this space with the firey DC! But sometimes your mood can affect your reading, and unfortunately, mine got in the way of this one!

The plot of A Game of Lies is a rollercoaster ride of twists and turns, with unexpected revelations that keep you on the edge of your seat. Picking up Ffion’s story, and the filming of a reality show set in the fictional village of Pen Y Ddraig, I was hooked from the start. Kind of made me question how she can get away with what she does in the policing world which I know in the professional industry you can get straight up fired.
