The guard is made of two parts, one which is the rails, protecting your child from any roll outs and the other part which slides under the mattress. I wanted to purchase a single bed for my daughter however, I was aware that this would be a lot bigger then her original cotbed.

As tempting as it may be to tie teddies and similar to the bedrail to create a sleepy environment, these pose strangulation and entrapment dangers, and nothing should ever be attached to the bedguard that is not part of the fittings. The guard sits alongside the length of the bed, with the base at right angles under the mattress and there is space at either end of the bed to ensure you child’s head or body does not get stuck. It is detachable so you can easily and quickly mount and remove it when needed, for example, when not in use during the day.My little girl Lucy has always been very happy to sleep with it in place – the mesh side ensures she doesn’t feel enclosed and can still see what's going on in her bedroom. Always make sure to fit the bed guard so that it, when in the locked position or when placed in the fitted position, touches the side of the mattress. Purchasing a bed guard seemed the sensible option to ensure my daughter would be safe and not fall out of the bed. The bed guard is quite heavy, but it does fold up into a small pouch (provided) so it’s useful for travel and storage. We believe that keeping children safe means that we must protect our children from accidents and harmful substances.

The bed guard has strong folding and locking mechanisms but the side can be easily flipped down by an adult. Please note that it is very important to ensure that the straps are correctly adjusted with respect to the minimum suggested size for mattress (width: 70 - 120 cm).
