About this deal

I felt roughly the same when Clerks II came out 16 years ago and found it being maybe Smith’s best film. Lionsgate has issued the film on Blu-ray with a code for a digital copy and a great batch of bonus features, including two nice long documentaries.

It comes to Blu-ray for the first time with a pleasant presentation that features a healthy bitrate and a strong encode, even if the visuals aren’t always that impressive. But after Randal has a heart attack, he’s determined to make something of his slacker life – by shooting a movie about it!As you might imagine, it’s a fun track that has Smith playing host to a raucous discussion about a wide variety of topics, many of which even relate to the making of the film. Though Smith's skills as a filmmaker have declined precipitously over the years, I hoped that his talents as a commentator would remain intact. Lionsgate is not making a View Askewniverse set, they are simply making a Clerks set and needed the first film. I've heard some parts of it from a YouTube review of Clerks III and, as I think, it has a lot of interest takes on the movie by its cast members.

While Smith opts for a smaller theatrical run via his roadshow and the Fathom Event route, he’s still keen on Blu-ray releases. Also on staff are Elias (Trevor Fehrman) and Blockchain (Austin Zajur), the latter Elias’ silent cohort. Dawson makes a few appearances to talk to her husband about how he should get on with his life, helping Dante overcome his anxieties as production on Randal’s movie, and this story, nears its conclusion. Without going into major spoilers, the surprisingly hard-hitting third act is emotionally devastating in a way that Kevin Smith’s films have rarely been (the closest of which would be Chasing Amy). Felt like I was reliving my own youth as I watched the film constantly in my late teens/early '20s when I related to the characters the most.
