About this deal

He went to art school in Liverpool and has since worked as a typographer for design and advertising agencies. Walliams has been turning out since 2008, then long may it continue - and long may he reign for giving so much laughter to kids of all ages - even ones like myself in their sixth decade! Tony Ross's illustrations work brilliantly with Walliams's text; there's plenty of fast-paced action; and the jokes are gleefully ghoulish (and often gross).

This last detail is the basis of the story and it may seem like an inconsequential nugget, but the brilliance of Williams's storycraft is how he manages to create a comedic situation from the rather dire circumstances of Alfie's life by focusing on this one area. He has gone on to take the children’s literary world by storm, dominating sales charts and twice winning the National Book Awards Children’s Book of the Year. Subsequently, have bought most of the DW books for the kids and see them reading the books repeatedly, which has been a good diversion from being hooked onto gadgets. Also at the point when the witch removed her too white to be real teeth to reveal hideous fangs which had blood. Children are leaving their teeth for the tooth fairy and waking up to find odd things under their pillows! He took up swimming in his youth because he was overweight, and has subsequently completed long distance swims of the English Channel, the Strait of Gibraltar and the River Thames, raising millions of pounds for charity!

His books have now been translated into 40+ languages, and also include picture books illustrated by Tony Ross. The David Williams books are exciting and engaging and never fails to impress with the brilliant content and illustrations. Alfie and Gabz are determined to get to the bottom of the mystery - but no-one could have dreamed what they'll discover when they come face to face with the demon dentist herself, in this hilarious and thrilling story! He wears uniforms with holes and he is not exactly Mr Popular in school, and understandably, he has a morbid fear of dentists arising from a traumatic experience when he was six.If people are getting scared by a flipping book, then they're obviously soft and need to get a grip. The people who read this made their own decision to get ths book, if they are frightened by the demon dentist, it's their problem not anyone elses. When I first started the book, I really believed that with what seems rather a substantial read, could not possibly have maintained the same momentum throughout; I really felt it would have to slow down and the humour diminish somewhat with its progress - how wrong I was! David's books have achieved unprecedented critical acclaim - and both RATBURGER and DEMON DENTIST won the National Book Awards Children's Book of the Year.We also share information about your use of our site with our social media, advertising and analytics partners. It is in the company of frustratingly ineffective adults and truly perilous situations that Alfie shines in this delightful yet disturbing book. David’s books have now exceeded 100 non-consecutive weeks at children’s number one, and have been translated into 53 languages, selling more than 35 million copies worldwide. In 2008 David’s first children’s book The Boy in the Dress was published, illustrated by Quentin Blake.

I thought this book was scary first when they have to close there eyes in assembly for a dentist it was really scary and i loved to because you showed how they really felt and their actions!

From the amusing `KNICKERGATE' encountered with Miss Hare; the mere sight of Winnie crawling through a hole and losing her clothes on the way to reveal a bright orange bra that would hold footballs - and large pink knickers that would house kids in a small tent - to the speeding of the social worker on her moped through the school corridors during the big chase - to hearing Winnie: 'Oh my word - look at the boy's teet' - Alfie: 'my teet? The story is thrilling and I went into another world of imagination after I started reading maybe that's why I got scared out of my wits when I saw the illustration of the witch's eyes. The characters are well-drawn, in particular hero Alife, who is also a carer for his disabled dad, and the terrible villain really is truly demonic.
