We don’t get to see Glyn and Killian a lot (which made me happy they didn’t take away from the story). I'm not coming back to RK's peaceful harbor for good writing, original characters or plausible plot twists. As the second installment in the “Legacy of God” series, “God of Pain” continues to captivate readers with its thrilling storyline. The part Nikolai tries to kill himself had more violence than the Elite pathetic attempt at kidnapping.

Ever since I was little, I've known that I wouldn't always be a sheltered little princess, fighting for her family's approval. When I saw the arc team saying that this book has so much pain I was waiting for something sad and heartbreaking, not pathetic and boring. the previous book was such a disappointment and when it was revealed this was Creigh and Anni’s book.

But for some reason I had more difficulty connecting to Annika and Creighton's story than I had expected.

my expectations for this book were SO HIGH, i was so fucking excited for the grumpy/sunshine trope, but it gave nothing. With each page, readers are drawn deeper into a world where pain becomes a catalyst for transformation and redemption. Listen, I love me a grumpy man, but I also love me a man that is a grump to everyone yet melts for his woman, and we see that with Creighton. Anni finally realizing at that moment that all Creigh wanted was to know he would once be chosen over what she knows, and loves decides to take matters into her own hands and point the gun to herself and threaten death. She loses interest in most people once she gets to know them, but Creighton King is a different story, he fascinates and scares her.

It doesn’t help that she has an over protective family and that he’s part of a group that are rivals to her flesh and blood 😬. I hope Rina stops trying so hard to make the image of her characters and learns to pass them by actions. i think these two will definitely be my favorite characters of the 2nd gen (from what i've seen of them so far). We were introduced to everyone in the first book, but only had a deeper dive into some of the cast members, but now with two new leads who have different best friends and family members, we got an intimate look at several more of the cast members.

RK has never been very articulate in her prose, but lately all these clichéd analogies, metaphors and phrases are so overabundant that they force me to skim half of the book.
