Overall, it feels like a retelling of Beauty and the Beast, but with a few key elements switched around AND seriously hot action.

Alisander de Balon is the opposite, sort of a lean foppish man with a cutting wit and a heart of gold. Guy is initially a bit flat, but as he meets Mathilde and grows more in love with her, his personality blossoms. He was terrible with Aimee at first, understandably so, and he had his less than favourable moments but I liked him and found him to be redeemable. The books and authors I would have never have known, the sales I would have missed, the new things to think about (old ex. Guy is pretty alpha, yes, but he’s a proponent of enthusiastic consent and he does some world-class, A-grade grovelling in the last third of the book supplicating himself at Mathilde’s feet.I just think it would be nice to get a different type of hero… maybe one who does most of the chasing and is committed to the relationship right off the bat? Aldara is sixteen years old when she is sold by her farming family to the obnoxious Prince Pandarus as a gift for his younger brother, Prince Tyron. My Opinion: Having read several of Alice Coldbreath’s other books and really loved them, I was so excited for the release of this one and I was sure I would love it.

Even if he’s lonely and yearning for romance, the big, strong men he wants don’t crave small, timid princes.That was something that had been lacking in a couple of this author's previous stories, and I'm glad that wasn't the case here. Unfortunately, Aimee and Konrad suffer from miscommunication, misunderstanding, and a couple of blunders.
