Not only was the story superb, but my kids enjoyed the illustrations and the extra element of looking for the little snail on each page. They would also only drop off a case of books and leave us to run it – it was so lovely to have you on hand to chat to the children and recommend them books, as well as the small (but appreciated! We've since bought and read the rest of the series over the last year and he's always been so excited when we've started each one.

On Animal Boulevard the snow is finally melting after a long, quiet winter and Hotel Flamingo is ready to embrace the new season and new guests. With notions of inclusivity , ideas of never giving up and the belief of working together has made this one of our current favourite reads. It’s a jump for joy moment to realise that this sequel is as good as the first title Hotel Flamingo. This experience has been fantastic primarily for the children, the school and also for me (professionally).

You join Anna as she first meets her inherited hotel and all the drama that could possibly come with it! Anna sets about cleaning the hotel up and hires lots of staff including a maid who is allergic to dust and a rude, but very talented chef who wants to do everything his way.

You guys were so fab and Dawn was such a lovely presence in the schools - I will absolutely be in touch next time I'm in your neck of the woods. Alex Milway is also the brilliant author and illustrator behind Big Sky Mountain and Pigsticks and Harold books. Nearly every page is adorned with Alex Milway’s beautifully chic drawings, making this a great chapter book for children who are comfortable with longer chapter books but still love illustrations to bring the story to life and break up the text. Anna, the new owner of Hotel Flamingo, turns the rundown hotel into a success with the help of her staff. Our favourite characters were Lemmy because he was helpful and the tortoise because she helped them make the hotel better.
