Placement rules are incredibly simple, you just have to match the terrain type, roads can lead to dead ends, but terrain must match.

I can explain the rules to new players in minutes, but it is still satisfying (and exciting) to play. One game you may need to cover all bases to do well, the next you may need to put everything into farms and animals. I’ve read forum posts questioning the “catch-up” mechanism in the game–starting with the third round, players get money for each person ahead of them on the score track.Stories is a game with a remarkably dedicated following, an adventurous business model and a game-play design that pushes the barriers of the hobby. It adopts a system of randomised scoring, which will hugely influence the development of your islands. Isle of Skye is a tile playing game where each player builds their own isle – full of whisky barrels, cows and castles! Andy Matthews, in a review for Meeple Mountain, states that the game has simple mechanics with a "colorful and detailed" design that is "clever and well balanced". The game is played over five rounds: after each round you are scored according to one, two or three of the victory tiles drawn at the start of the game.

It still is a very smooth and light game, so do not worry if you are a beginner in board games: I'd say this game is for casual players and advanced players looking for something non-complex, alike. Secretly and simultaneously, behind their screens, players assign their ax token to one tile (which will be discarded) and assign a value of at least 1 coin to the other two tiles. After six rounds, players score endgame points for any special scoring opportunities in their territories (noted by scrolls) and score points for money they have leftover. It adds new and interesting decisions, and a depth to the tile-laying that in many ways renders Carcassonne all but obsolete. The other large expansion, Druids, adds a second opportunity to purchase tiles each round, presumably fixing the one possible flaw in the original game. If we were prepared for this situation, if such a tile ever existed and if people - claiming to own one of these tiles - are telling the truth is nothing we are going to comment.
